India Movers: Alphageo, Heidelberg, Il&Fs, MRF, TCS, Tech Mahindra

The Sensex Index jumped 257.02 or 1.3% to close at 20,791.93. The CNX Nifty gained 84.25 or 1.4% to close at 6,176.10.

For the week, Sensex climbed 2.8% and for the month slid 0.7%.

Gainers & Losers

Alphageo India Ltd jumped 2.5% to Rs 42.95 after the company secured two separate contracts worth an aggregate of Rs 47.87 crore for acquiring 2D and 3D seismic data.

Arvind Limited rose 0.9% to Rs 127.70 after the company is in talks with U.S.-based clothing retailer Gap Inc to form a joint venture in India from next year.

HeidelbergCement India Ltd increased 2% to Rs 38.20 and the company plans to raise Rs 370 crore by issuing non-convertible debentures on private placement basis.

Il&Fs Engineering & Construction Co Ltd gained 1.6% to Rs 33.90 after the company’s Spain-based subsidiary received a road maintenance contract in Ukraine worth about Rs 427 crore.

MRF Limited slipped 1.4% to Rs 17,316.45 after net profit in the fourth-quarter soared 11.7% to Rs 184.10 crore and in total revenue grew 4.9% to Rs 3,159.80 crore.

Steel Strips Wheels Ltd climbed 3.5% to Rs 146.20 after the company won export order worth approximately $5 million to supply car wheel rims from SSangYong Motors Company, Korea.

Sadbhav Engineering Limited surged 7.1% to Rs 85.70 after the company guided strong order book and better-than-expected revenue in the next few quarters.

Shoppers Stop Limited increased 2.6% to Rs 329.75 after the IDFC Mutual Fund acquired 1,00,000 shares for Rs 32 crore in open market transactions.

Tata Consultancy Services Limited gained 1% to Rs 2,004.60 after the software services provider won a deal to handle nearly 1,000 offshore jobs for the British energy giant NPower.

Tech Mahindra Ltd rose 0.4% to Rs 1,698.10 after the company board approved a scheme of amalgamation with Mahindra Engineering Services Ltd that is expected to be completed in 9 months.

The company will issue 5 shares of Rs 10 each of Tech Mahindra for every 12 shares of Mahindra Engineering Services Ltd.
