U.S. Movers: Aruba, Foot Locker, Gap, Hibbett, PetSmart, Ross Stores

    Ann, apparel retail said comparable sales rose 3.7%. Aruba said net loss widened. Foot Locker net fell 2% as sales dropped 7%. Gap profit jumped 9%. Hibbett Sports net declined 9%. PetSmart net soared 12%. Ross Stores net jumped 8% and sales climbed 6%.

Ann Inc ((ANN)) gained 33 cents to $36.59 after the women’s apparel, shoes and accessory retailer said net sales in the third-quarter ending on November 2 jumped 7% to $657.5 million. Comparable store sales in the quarter increased 3.7%.

Net income in the quarter rose 1.2% to $41.2 million or 89 cents a diluted share compared to $40.7 million or 84 cents.

Aruba Networks, Inc ((ARUN)) soared 6.4% or $1.10 to $18.30 after the mobile network provider reported revenue in the first-quarter ending in October climbed 11% to $160.9 million.

Net loss in the quarter widened to $7.8 million or 7 cents a diluted share compared to $0.8 million or 1 cent.

Foot Locker, Inc ((FL)) climbed 3.9% or $1.45 to $38.21 after the athletic shoes and apparel retailer stated revenue in the third-quarter ending on November 2 dropped 6.6% to $1.62 billion.

Net income in the quarter fell 2% to $104 million or 70 cents a diluted share compared to $106 million or 69 cents.

The Gap Inc ((GPS)) dropped 3.4% or $1.44 to $40.43 after the specialty apparel retailer reported net sales in the third-quarter ending on November 2 grew 3% to $3.98 billion. Comparable store sales in the quarter rose 1%.

Net income in the quarter jumped 9.4% to $337 million or 72 cents a diluted share compared to $308 million or 63 cents.

Hibbett Sports, Inc ((HIBB)) slumped 2.5% or $1.57 to $61.30 after the sporting goods retailer reported net sales in the third-quarter ending on November 2 increased 2.5% to $208 million. Comparable store sales in the quarter climbed 4.8%.

Net income in the quarter declined 9% to $17.3 million or 66 cents a diluted share compared to $19 million or 71 cents.

The company narrowed its guidance for the year to diluted earnings per share in the range of $2.68 to $2.77.

PetSmart, Inc. ((PETM)) slipped 2.2% or $1.64 to $72.94 after pet supplies and pet food retailer said total sales in the third-quarter ending on November 2 climbed 4% to $1.7 billion. Comparable store sales in the quarter climbed 2.7%.

Net income in the quarter soared 12% to $92 million or 88 cents a diluted share compared to $82 million or 75 cents.

For the fourth quarter, the company forecasted comparable stores sales growth in the range of 2.5% to 3.5% and total sales to drop between 3% and 2% and earnings per share in the range of $1.19 to $1.23.

PetSmart expects comparable store sales growth for the year between 3% and 3.5% and total sales growth to estimate of 3% and earnings per share in the range of $3.94 to $3.98.

Ross Stores, Inc ((ROST)) plunged 8.3% or $6.62 to $73.67 after the off-price retailer reported sales in the third-quarter ending on November 2 advanced 6% to $3.40 billion. Comparable store sales in the quarter rose 2%.

Net income in the quarter jumped 7.6% to $171.6 million or 80 cents a diluted share compared to $159.5 million or 72 cents.

Sirona Dental Systems, Inc ((SIRO)) fell 1.3% or 96 cents to $71.65 after the dental equipment maker reported revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in September soared 12.6% to $278.6 million.

Net income in the quarter rose 4% to $36.2 million or 65 cents a diluted share compared to $34.7 million or 62 cents.

Splunk Inc ((SPLK)) surged 24.5% or $14.67 to $74.57 after the software platform provider reported total revenue in the third-quarter ending in October surged 51% to $78.6 million.

Net loss in the quarter widened to $16.6 million or 16 cents a diluted share compared to $5.5 million or 6 cents.

The company lifted total revenues for the year between $291 million and $293 million from earlier expected between $275 million and $281 million and for the fourth quarter, total revenues are expected in the range of $88 million to $90 million.
