U.S. Movers: AbbVie, Microsoft, Moody

[R]12:25 PM New York – Amazon sales topped estimates. Microsoft net surged 17% and revenue jumped 16%. Moody’s said quarterly net was flat. Procter & Gamble profit jumped 8%. Rockwell net soared 15%. United Parcel net surged 134%. Zynga surged after net loss narrowed.[/R]

Amazon.com Inc ((AMZN)) soared 8% to all-time record high of $359.38 after the online retailer reported third quarter sales increased 24% to $17.1 billion and loss narrowed to $41 million or 9 cents a share.

The company also issued fourth quarter revenues between $23.5 billion and $26.5 billion, an increase between 10% and 25%.

AbbVie Inc. ((ABBV)) jumped 2.6% or $1.27 to $49.21 after the pharmaceuticals company stated net sales in the third-quarter ending in September rose 3% to $4.66 billion. Net income in the quarter climbed 17% to $964 million or 60 cents a diluted share compared to $1.59 billion or $1.01.

DTE Energy Company ((DTE)) gained 1.4% or 94 cent to $68.54 after the diversified energy company said revenues in the third-quarter ending in September jumped 9% to $2.39 billion. Net income in the quarter declined 13% to $198 million or $1.13 a diluted share compared to $227 million or $1.31.

Microsoft Corporation ((MSFT)) soared 6.4% or $2.18 to $35.90 after the software developer reported revenue in the first-quarter ending in September jumped 16% to $18.53 billion. Net income in the quarter surged 17% to $5.24 billion or 62 cents a diluted share compared to $4.47 billion or 53 cents.

Moody’s Corporation ((MCO)) dropped 4.1% or $2.99 to $70.28 after the rating agency stated revenue in the first-quarter ending in September increased 2% to $705.5 million. Net income in the quarter was flat at $183.9 million or 83 cents a diluted share compared to 81 cents a year earlier.

The Procter & Gamble Company ((PG)) slipped 67 cents to $79.94 after the consumer goods maker reported revenue in the first-quarter ending in September increased 2% to $21.2 billion. Net income in the quarter jumped 8% to $3.03 billion or $1.04 a diluted share compared to $2.81 billion or 96 cents.

Rockwell Collins, Inc. ((COL)) slipped 1.8% or $1.29 to $70.96 after the aviation communication service provider stated revenue in the fourth-quarter ending in September fell 2% to $1.25 billion. Net income in the quarter soared 15% to $175 million or $1.28 a diluted share compared to $152 million or $1.06.

United Parcel Service, Inc ((UPS)) rose 13 cents to $94.61 after the package delivery company said revenue in the third-quarter ending in September grew 3.4% to $13.5 billion. Net income in the quarter surged 134% to $1.10 billion or $1.16 a diluted share compared to $469 million or 48 cents.

Zynga Inc ((ZNGA)) surged 11.7% or 40 cents to $3.95 after the online social games service provider reported revenue in the third-quarter ending in September tumbled 36% to $203 million. Net loss in the quarter narrowed to $68,000 or breaks even compared to $52.7 million or 7 cents.
