U.S. Movers: du Pont, EMC, Kimberly-Clark, Lockheed Martin, McGraw

Coach, Inc. ((COH)) plunged 7.3% or $3.97 to $50.21 after the accessories and gifts retailers reported net sales in the first-quarter ending on September 28 decreased 1% to $1.15 billion. Net income in the quarter fell 2% to $217.8 million or 77 cents a diluted share compared to $221.4 million or 77 cents.

E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company ((DD)) rose 16 cents to $59.62 after the diversified company said net sales in the third-quarter ending in September advanced 6% to $7.81 billion. Net income in the quarter surged to $285 million or 30 cents a diluted share compared to $5 million or a break even share.

EMC Corporation ((EMC)) dropped 3.3% or 84 cents to $24.40 after the storage systems and technology provider stated revenues in the third-quarter ending in September jumped 5% to $5.5 billion. Net income in the quarter slipped 6% to $586 million or 27 cents a diluted share compared to $626 million or 28 cents.

Harley-Davidson, Inc. ((HOG)) slipped 2.1% or $1.36 to $64.21 after the motorcycle maker reported revenues in the third-quarter ending on September 29 climbed 9% to $1.18 billion. Net income in the quarter surged 21% to $162.7 million or 73 cents a diluted share compared to $134 million or 59 cents.

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. ((IDXX)) fell 1.8% or $1.92 to $104.06 after the medical equipment maker said total revenues in the third-quarter ending in September jumped 7% to $338.3 million. Net income in the quarter climbed 9% to $45.7 million or 86 cents a diluted share compared to $42.9 million or 76 cents.

Kimberly-Clark Corporation ((KMB)) jumped 2.6% or $2.55 to $101.38 after the sanitary products maker revenue in the third-quarter ending in September grew 0.3% to $5.3 billion. Net income in the quarter advanced 5.6% to $546 million or $1.42 a diluted share compared to $517 million or $1.30.

Lockheed Martin Corporation ((LMT)) jumped 3.2% or $3.86 to $129.16 after the aerospace and defense equipment maker reported net sales in the third-quarter ending in September dropped 4% to $11.3 billion. Net earnings in the quarter climbed 20% to $873 million or $2.66 a diluted share compared to $727 million or $2.21.

The company expects net sale for the fiscal 2014 may slightly decline from 2013 levels as U.S. Government shutdown delays government spending.

McGraw Hill Financial Inc ((MHFI)) slipped 1.3% or 89 cents to $68.90 after the financial information company said revenue in the third-quarter ending in September jumped 7% to $1.19 billion. Net income in the quarter tumbled 31% to $215 million or 77 cents a diluted share compared to $314 million or $1.10.

McGraw Hill lifted adjusted earnings guidance per share for the year in the range of $3.25 to $3.30 from $3.15 to $3.25.

Whirlpool Corporation ((WHR)) soared 9.7% or $12.76 to $143.73 after the home appliances maker reported revenue in the third-quarter ending in September grew 4.2% to $4.68 billion. Net earnings in the quarter surged 165% to $196 million or $2.42 a diluted share compared to $74 million or 94 cents.

The home appliances maker lifted diluted earnings per share guidance for the year between $10.45 and $10.65 from previous range of $10.05 to $10.55.
