The Sensex Index climbed 467.38 or 2.3% to close at 20,882.89 The CNX Nifty jumped 143.50 or 2.4% to close at 6,189.35.

Gainers & Losers

Asian Paints Ltd soared 6.1% to Rs 516.50 after consolidated net profit in the second quarter climbed 36.7% to Rs 326.84 crore and total revenue jumped 19% to Rs 3,160.03 crore.

Alstom India Ltd fell 0.2% to Rs 350 after the company won Rs 105.50 crore order to supply transformers for NTPC project in Bihar.

Crisil Limited slid 0.03% to Rs 1,175 after consolidated net profit in the second quarter surged 95.6% to Rs 116.81 crore and revenue jumped 5.7% to Rs 286.40 crore.

The Federal Bank Limited, after net profit in the second quarter jumped 5% to Rs 225.81 crore and revenues climbed 11.6% to Rs 1,857.84 crore.

Geometric Limited surged 9.2% to Rs 83.20 after net profit in the second quarter climbed 7.5% to Rs 16.56 crore and net sales climbed 10.1% to Rs 286.53 crore.

Gujarat State Petronet Limited dropped 0.6% to Rs 55.70 after net profit in the second quarter plunged 42.3% to Rs 181.75 crore and net sales surged 26.2% to Rs 9,448.87 crore.

HDFC Bank Limited fell 0.5% to Rs 673 after net profit in the second quarter jumped 10% to Rs 1,266.33 crore and sales climbed 12.8% to Rs 5,953.98 crore.

Mahindra & Mahindra Fin. Services Ltd jumped 2.7% to Rs 279.50 after consolidated net profit in the second quarter surged 20% to Rs 232 crore and total revenue soared 32% to Rs 1,291 crore.

Larsen & Toubro Limited climbed 6% to Rs 925.15 after net profit in the second quarter dropped 14% to Rs 977.51 crore and total revenue climbed 10.6% to Rs 14,958.93 crore.

The company said order book in the quarter ending in September jumped 11% to Rs 1,76,000 crore and orders inflow soared 27% to Rs 26,533 crore.

Sadbhav Engineering Limited advanced 4.4% to Rs 67.05 after the company was the successful bidder for a contract of Rs 263.64 crore from Bharat Coking Coal, Dhanbad.

UltraTech Cement Limited slipped 0.4% to Rs 1,955 after net profit in the second quarter plunged 52% to Rs 264 crore and net sales dropped 4.2% to Rs 4,502 crore.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited soared 6.2% to Rs 268.85 after consolidated net profit in the second quarter surged 25.9% to Rs 236.27 crore and revenues climbed 18% to Rs 1,156.20 crore.
