[R]4:00 PM Frankfurt – Centamin said total gold production in the third-quarter surged 39%. Quindell Portfolio won a three-year contract worth £150 million. Thorntons total sales in the first-quarter increased 2% to £47 million. Vedanta power sales plunged 29% and copper September production declined 17%.[/R]

In London trading, FTSE 100 index fell 0.1% or 6.17 to 6,360 and in Frankfurt the DAX index rose 0.2% or 13.46 to 8,569.

In Paris, CAC 40 index gained 0.5% or 20.38 to 4,154.

Centamin Plc gained 1.7% to 45.81 pence after the UK based gold producer said total gold production in the third-quarter surged 39% to 84,757 ounces from a year ago period and at the end of ninth-month production of 265,397 ounces.

Greggs Plc jumped 2.7% to 439 pence after the UK based bakery retailer said bakery total sales in the quarter ending in September grew 3.6% and comparable sales slid 0.5% and for the first-half increased 2.9% from a year earlier.

Quindell Portfolio Plc surged 8.6% to 15.75 pence after the UK based software and consulting service provider won a new three-year contract worth above £150 million from Direct Line Insurance Group Plc.

Thorntons Plc rose 1.3% to 95.75 after the UK based confectionery and sweet foods retailer said total sales in the first-quarter increased 2.1% to £47 million and sales at company retail stores slumped 5.7% to £23.2 million.

Vedanta Resources Plc declined 4.5% to 1,022 pence after the UK based diversified miner reported production in the second-quarter ending in September of various operations climbed but sales of surplus electrical power plunged 29% and production of copper declined 17%.
