In London trading, FTSE 100 index gained 0.5% or 29 to 6,306 and in Frankfurt the DAX index inched up 0.1% to 5.4 to 7,668.

In Paris, CAC 40 index rose 0.3% or 12.1 to 3,679.

Aurubis AG soared 4.6% to €48.68 after Peter Willbrandt chief executive officer said demands from Europe is slightly improving.

ADB Airfield Solutions, the airfield lighting provider on speculation agrees to pay €169 million to France based PAI Partner of debt supporting acquisition of the business.

FirstGroup Plc gained 2.8% to 206.70 pence after the UK based transport firm sold-off eight of its London depots in deals of the sale for a gross consideration of £57.5 million. The company said sold five depots to London bus operator Metroline.

Lagardere SCA dropped 2.2% to €27.91 after the France based media group sold its entire 7.4% stake in Airbus parent EADS to raised €2.3 billion or $3 billion.

Telecom Italia SpA climbed 3.9% to €0.596 after the Italy based telecom group said it is in preliminary non-binding talks with Hutchison Whampoa Group aimed at checking the feasibility of an integration process.

Local media reports in Milan suggested that Hong Kong based company may acquire 29.9% stake.
