The Sensex Index jumped 131.24 or 0.7% to close at 18,835.77 The CNX Nifty gained 40.95 to close at 5,682.55.

Gainers & Losers

Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited slumped 1.6% to Rs 484.20 after the company plans to sell its textile chemicals, paper specialties and emulsion businesses for Rs 209 crore.

GMR Infrastructure, Ltd climbed 3.1% to Rs 21.55 after the company divested its two coal mining assets in South Africa.

HCL Technologies Limited jumped 2.7% to Rs 795.95 after the company won five year contract of infrastructure services management for $100 million from the U.S. based Ford Motor Company.

IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited gained 1.6% to Rs 177.20 after the company received contract from National Highways Authority of India for road project in Maharashtra estimated at Rs. 1,348.20 crore.

Novartis India Limited climbed 3.8% to Rs 598.80 after the Switzerland based pharmaceutical company said it plans to reduce its stake in the company to meet the regulatory requirement.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited increased 2.9% to Rs 311.55 after the company’s marginal fields’ production is not discounted.

Steel Exchange India Limited slipped 1.7% to Rs 74.10 after the company received order from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd to roll out 10,000 tons of TMT bars a month for a year or two.

Valecha Engineering Limited soared 6.3% to Rs 45.50 after the company received contract for Rs 122.31 crore.
