Bruker Corp fourth quarter net plunged 67% and Cimarex net declined 15%. Medtronic third quarter net climbed 6% and reiterated fiscal outlook. Omnicare fourth quarter surged 90% and Sealed Air net swung to a profit and Wolverine net to a loss.

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. ((AWI)) declined 4.6% or $2.62 to $53.61 after the flooring producer reported sales in the fourth quarter ending in December increased decreased 1.6% to $612.8 million from $623 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter dropped 6.1% to $9.2 million or 15 cents a diluted share compared to $9.8 million or 16 cents a share a year ago earlier.
The company expects full year sales in the range of $2.7 billion to $2.8 billion and adjusted earnings per share between $2.30 and $2.60 per diluted share.
Asbury Automotive Group, Inc ((ABG)) rose 12 cents to $36.20 after the automotive retailer said revenues in the fourth quarter ending in December jumped 15% to $1.22 billion from $1.06 billion in the same period of last year. Net earnings in the quarter jumped 6% to $22.8 million or 73 cents a diluted share compared to $21.5 million or 68 cents a share a year ago period.
The retailer said revenues in the quarter of new vehicle climbed 21% and used vehicle retail revenues increased 5%. Finance and insurance revenues surged 23%.
Bruker Corporation ((BRKR)) soared 8.5% or $1.42 to $18.13 after the global scientific instruments maker stated revenue in the fourth quarter ending in December surged 9% to $517.3 million from $475.1 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter plunged 67% to $12.8 million or 8 cents diluted per share compared to $39.1 million or 23 cents a share a year ago period.
Cimarex Energy Co. ((XEC)) gained 1.2% or 80 cents to $65.75 after the oil and gas exploration and production maker said total revenues in the fourth quarter ending in October increased 3% to $429.8 million from $417.5 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter declined 15% to $99.2 million or $1.14 diluted per share compared to $116.9 million or $1.36 a share a year ago quarter.
Medtronic, Inc. ((MDT)) dropped 3.5% or $1.67 to $45.45 after the medical equipments maker reported revenues in the third quarter ending in December grew 4% to $4.03 billion from $3.92 billion in the same period of last year. Net earnings in the quarter climbed 6% to $988 million or 97 cents a diluted share compared to $935 million or 88 cents a share a year ago.
Medtronic added international revenue in the third quarter increased 7% to $1.856 billion. Cardiac rhythm disease management revenue slid 1% to $1.17 billion and coronary revenue surged 19% to $445 million. Structural heart segment revenue grew 4% to $272 million and endovascular segment revenue jumped 14% to $212 million.
The company reiterated revenue growth for fiscal year in the range of 3% to 4% and diluted earnings per share between $3.66 and $3.70.
NiSource Inc. ((NI)) jumped 1.9% or 51 cents to $27.29 after the energy holding company said total revenue in the fourth quarter ending in December surged 9% to $973.2 million from $896.6 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter surged more than eight-fold to $134 million or 43 cents diluted per share compared to $14.6 million or 4 cents a share a year ago earlier.
Omnicare, Inc. ((OCR)) slipped 2.7% or $1.10 to $38.47 after the healthcare services company stated net sales in the fourth quarter ending in December decreased 2% to $1.53 billion from $1.56 billion in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter surged 90% to $59 million or 54 cents a diluted share compared to $31 million or 27 cents a share a year ago period.
Sealed Air Corporation ((SEE)) surged 8.7% or $1.70 to $21.10 after the food packaging company reported net sales in the fourth quarter ending in December rose 1% to $1.98 billion from $1.96 billion in the same period of last year. Net earnings in the quarter swung to $173.6 million or 89 cents a diluted share compared to net loss of $49.2 million or 25 cents a share a year ago.
The company estimated full year net sales in the range of nearly $7.7 billion to $7.9 billion and adjusted earnings per share between $1.10 and $1.20.
Wolverine World Wide, Inc. ((WWW)) increased 1.5% or 68 cents to $43.58 after the footwear and apparel maker stated revenue in the fourth quarter ending in December soared 60% to $652.2 million from $406.5 million in the same period of last year. Net loss in the quarter swung to $3.72 million or 8 cents diluted per share compared to net earnings of $23 million or 47 cents a share a year ago earlier.
