India Movers: ONGC, SAIL Net Decline, Tata Power Swing to Loss

Britannia third quarter net climbed 11% and Jindal Steel & Power dropped 14%. Jaiprakash Associates net tumbled 64%. ONGC net dropped 18% and Oil India declined 7%. SAIL net declined 23% and Tata Power net swung to a net loss.

The Sensex Index climbed 100.47 to close at 19,561.04 The CNX Nifty jumped 24.65 to close at 5,922.50.

Gainers & Losers

Britannia Industries Limited gained 1.1% to Rs 474.80 after consolidated net profit in the third quarter climbed 11% at Rs 62.10 crore.

Coal India Limited increased 1.8% to Rs 345 ahead of third quarter results on tomorrow.

Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited soared 5.9% to Rs 74.20 after net profit in the third quarter surged more than three-fold to Rs 69.92 crore.

IFCI Limited dropped 2.3% to Rs 33.25 after net profit in the third quarter declined 33.1% to Rs 76.31 crore.

Jindal Steel & Power Limited slumped 3.4% to Rs 392.45 after consolidated net profit in the third quarter dropped 14% to Rs 869.94 crore.

Jaiprakash Associates Limited slid 0.6% to Rs 72.30 after net profit in the third quarter tumbled 64.2% to Rs 110.93 crore.

Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd rose 0.4% to Rs 190.45 after the company reported consolidated net profit in the third quarter swung to Rs 103.02 crore from net loss of Rs 24.72 crore a year earlier.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited climbed 3.8% to Rs 320.15 after net profit in the third quarter dropped 17.5% % to Rs 5,562.72 crore.

Oil India Limited fell 0.5% to Rs 533.95 after net profit in the third quarter declined 7.3% to Rs 940.29 crore.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited rose 0.5% to Rs 112.85 after net profit in the third quarter climbed 39.5% to Rs 1129.06 crore.

Punj Lloyd Limited plunged 5.1% to Rs 49.30 after consolidated net profit in the third quarter tumbled 87.5% to Rs 8.77 crore.

PTC India Financial Services Ltd slipped 2.7% to Rs 16 after net profit in the third quarter plunged 51.2% to Rs 28.23 crore.

Steel Authority of India Limited gained 0.4% to Rs 81.20 after net profit in the third quarter dropped 23.4% to Rs 484.30 crore.

Tata Power Company Limited slipped 0.8% to Rs 96.85 after the company reported consolidated net loss in the third quarter swung to Rs 328.92 crore from net profit of Rs 297.95 crore a year ago.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited jumped 2.3% to Rs 63.65 after net profit in the third quarter surged more than two-fold to Rs 34.93 crore

Unitech Limited tumbled 17.9% to Rs 28.75 after the Central Bureau of Investigation registered a preliminary enquiry on Sanjay Chandra managing director accused in the 2G case.
