German Wholesale Inflation Soars 4.2%, Italian Production Falls 5.2%

    German wholesale price inflation soared in September. French output rose, Italian production declined but production in Greece rebounded in August.

German WPI Soars

Germany''s wholesale price inflation soared 4.2% annually in September after rising 3.1% in August, data from Destatis showed today.

On a monthly basis, wholesale prices rose 1.3% in September compared to the 1.1% growth in August.

French Production Improves

France''s industrial production increased 1.5% on a monthly basis in August, from the 0.6% rise in July, data released by statistics office Insee showed.

Production in the manufacturing sector rose 1.8% sequentially in August compared to the 1% increase in July.

Swedish Output Rises

Sweden''s industrial production increased 3.2% annually in August, data released by Statistics Sweden showed.

Production in the manufacturing sector grew 3.6% from a year ago in August.

On a monthly basis, industrial production increased a seasonally adjusted 0.4% in August.

Separately, the agency said new orders in the Swedish industrial sector decreased a working-day adjusted 6.5% annually in August. Compared to July, orders decreased a seasonally adjusted 1.4%.

Italian Industrial Output Drops

Italy''s industrial production decreased a calendar-adjusted 5.2% annually in August, data released by statistics office Istat showed.

From a month ago, industrial production increased a seasonally adjusted 1.7% in August.

Greek Industrial Production Recovers

Industrial production in Greece rose 2.5% on an annual basis in August, from the 4.9% drop in July, data released by the Hellenic Statistics Authority showed.

On a monthly basis, industrial production declined 10.9% in August, after gaining 8.4% in July.

Norwegian Inflation Up

The Norwegian consumer price index rose 0.9% in September following a 0.4% dip in August, data from Statistics Norway showed. Higher price of clothing was the main contributor to the increase.

The annual growth in the CPI was 0.5% in September.
