OECD Area Jobless Rate Drops

The unemployment rate in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development area decreased to 7.9% in August from 8% in July.

The jobless rate in the euro zone remained unchanged at 11.4% for the second straight month, following 13 months of increase.

German Manufacturing Turnover Flat

Germany''s manufacturing turnover remained unchanged in August, preliminary data released by the Federal Statistics Office showed.

The seasonally and working-day adjusted manufacturing turnover remained unchanged on a monthly basis in August, from the revised 1.7% gain in July.

Domestic turnover decreased 1.7%, while the business with foreign customers rose 2%.

On an annual basis, manufacturing turnover fell a working-day adjusted 1.5% in August.

French Deficit Widens

France''s trade deficit widened to €5.286 billion in August from €4.894 billion in the same month last year, data released by the Customs Office showed.

Exports rose 3.6% from July and imports increased 6.3% in August.

Hungarian Surplus Improves

Hungary''s merchandise trade surplus increased to €575.1 million in August from €454.4 million in the same month last year, preliminary data released by the Central Statistics Office showed.

Exports rose 2% on an annual basis to €6.59 billion and imports climbed 0.2% to €6.02 billion in August.

Dutch Output Falls

Dutch industrial production decreased a calendar-adjusted 0.6% annually in August compared to the 0.3% drop in July, data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed.

Spanish Property Transfers Rise

The number of property transfers in Spain was 129,133 in August, 6.5% more than for the same month in 2011, and 3% lower than in July.

Also, 27,708 transactions of homes were registered in August, with an annual increase of 3%.

Greek Inflation Declines

Greece''s annual inflation eased to 0.9% in September from 1.7% in August, data released by the Hellenic Statistics Authority showed.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices increased 1.6% annually in September, while clothing and footwear prices rose 1.4%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices gained 2.5% in September, from the 1% rise in August.
