German PPI Eases, French Leading Index Drops

German producer price inflation slowed and Danish retail sales decreased in June. The French leading economic index declined for a second straight month and Dutch consumer spending fell in May.

German PPI Eases

German producer price inflation eased in June, the Federal Statistics Office said today.

The producer price index eased to 1.6% annually in June from 2.1% in May. The PPI was the lowest rate of inflation since May 2010 when it was at 0.9%.

French Leading Index Drops

The French leading economic index fell 0.2% each in May and April after rising 0.4% in March, the Conference Board reported today.

The coincident index, a measure of current economic activity, rose 0.1% in May.

Dutch Consumer Spending Falls

Consumer spending in the Netherlands fell in May, data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed.

Households'' spending on goods and services decreased a working-day adjusted 1.9% on an annual basis in May after falling 2.1% in April. The latest contraction was the fourteenth in a row.

Spending on food and beverages dropped 1.2%, while consumption of durable goods fell 6 % in May, data showed.

Danish Retail Sales Drop

Denmark''s retail sales decreased 0.3% on a monthly basis in June from the 0.2% rise in May, data released by Statistics Denmark showed today.

Sales of food and groceries fell 0.6% from a month ago in June. Annually, retail sales declined 1.2% in June compared to the 0.5% fall in May.

In the January-June period, sales fell 2.1% from the corresponding period a year earlier, the agency said.
