AptarGroup, Inc. ((ATR)) slumped 4.6% or $2.41 to $49.05 after the packaging company lowered its second quarter earnings per share to 60 cents to 62 cents compared to previous guidance of 70 cents to 75 cents mainly due to weaker than anticipated results for its European operations and recent changes in foreign currency.
The company added that today it completed the acquisition of the Stelmi Group, in early July and updated guidance negatively impacted by about 5 cents per share related to acquisition was not added in the original guidance.
Campbell Soup Company ((CPB)) fell 19 cents to $32.80 after the soup maker agreed to buy premium beverages and packaged fresh vegetables maker Bolthouse Farms, managed by a private equity firm for about $1.55 billion in cash.
Campbell plans to operate Bolthouse Farms as a separate business unit and expects the acquisition will add approximate 5 cents to 7 cents per share to adjusted net earnings in fiscal year 2013.
Dover Corporation ((DOV)) slipped 1.5% or 83 cents to $51.61 after the industrial conglomerate revised forecast its 2012 full year earnings per share to be in the range of $4.70 to $4.85 from prior guidance of $4.80 to $5.00 citing weaker European economy and forecast impact will be felt in the second quarter.
Luminex Corporation ((LMNX)) declined 11.1% or $2.72 to $21.65 after the biological testing products maker will purchase all outstanding shares of a molecular diagnostic company GenturaDx for $50 million in cash.
Raytheon Company ((RTN)) rose 19 cents to $56.07 after the aerospace and defense products maker received development and sustainment contract from Boeing for $636 million to provide the exoatmospheric kill vehicle. The Boeing is the prime contractor of ground based midcourse defense program.
The Boeing Company ((BA)) gained 48 cents to $74.17 after the aerospace company said Air Lease Corporation ordered for 60 737 MAX 8 and 15 737 MAX 9 airplanes and reconfirmation rights for 25 additional 737 MAXs. The order, with a list-price valued $7.2 billion.
Thomson Reuters Corporation ((TRI)) decreased 1.7% or 49 cents to $27.98 after the publishing company agreed to acquire all outstanding shares of FX Alliance Inc. ((FX)) for $22 a share or about $616 million in cash. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter.
WellPoint, Inc. ((WLP)) increased 2.6% or $1.58 to $61.49 after the health benefit company agreed to acquire healthcare company Amerigroup Corporation in $92 per share or approx $4.9 billion in cash. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2013. Accretion is expected to grow in 2014 and rose $1 per share by 2015.
