German Public Debt Rises, Spanish PPI Climbs

German public debt rose in the first quarter and Hungarian retail sales fell in April. Spanish producer price inflation rose in May and Economic confidence in the Czech Republic weakened in June.

German Public Debt Rises

Germany''s government debt increased from last year in the first quarter, preliminary data released by the Federal Statistics Office showed today.

The debt of overall public budget increased €42.3 billion or 2.1% on an annual basis to €2,042 billion in the first quarter.

Federal government debt rose 1% annually to €1,286.2 billion during the three-month period, data showed.

Hungarian Retail Sales Drop

Retail sales volume in Hungary fell 2.7% from a year ago in April following a 0.9% rise in sales in March, a report from the Hungarian Central Statistics Office showed.

Fuel sales at petrol stations declined 3.2% annually in April.

Spanish PPI Climbs

Spain''s producer price inflation rose to 3.2% annually in May from 3% in April, the statistics office INE said today.

On a monthly basis, producer prices eased 0.1% in May compared to the 0.8% decline recorded in April.

Annual growth in consumer goods remained at 1.6% and increases in capital goods and intermediate goods held steady at 0.7% and 1%, respectively.

Dutch Producer Confidence Grows

Confidence in the Dutch industrial sector grew in May, data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed.

The producer confidence index advanced to -4.8 in June from -5 in May.

Czech Sentiment Slumps

Economic confidence in the Czech Republic weakened in June, data from a survey by the Czech Statistics Office showed.

The economic confidence index fell to -2.2 in June from -1.4 in May. The index declined for the third consecutive month.
