U.S. Movers: Clean Energy, FactSet Research, Raven Industries, X-Rite

Clean Energy fourth quarter net loss swung to $20.9 million. FactSet Research second quarter net grew 3.3% to $46.7 million. Raven Industries fourth quarter net surged 49% to $11.0 million.

ADA-ES, Inc. ((ADES)) gained 5.9% or $1.46 to $26.01 after the technology company reported fourth quarter total revenues surged 174% to $24.6 million from $9 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter swung to $13.8 million or $1.53 per diluted share compared to $3.1 million or 42 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

For the year 2011 total revenues soared 139% to $53.3 million from $22.3 million in last year. Net loss for the year widened to $19.9 million or $2.48 per diluted share compared to $15.5 million or $2.09 per share in the prior year.

Alliant Techsystems Inc. ((ATK)) decreased 5.4% or $3.11 to $54.50 after the aerospace, defense, and commercial products company backed its fiscal 2012 earnings per share view between $7.65 and $7.75 and sales estimated $4.6 billion.

Churchill Downs Inc ((CHDN)) increased 2.6% or $1.37 to $53.30 after the casino and betting company reported fourth quarter revenue increased 9% to $149.3 million from $137.2 million in the same quarter last year. Net earnings in the quarter swung to $7.61 million or 44 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $1.89 million or 12 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

For the year 2011 net sales increased 19% to $696.9 million from $585.3 million in last year. Net income for the year increased to $64.4 million or $3.76 per diluted share compared to $16.4 million or $1.05 per share in the prior year.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. ((CLNE)) slipped 1.4% or 30 cents to $20.25 after the natural gas utility reported fourth quarter revenue rose to $86.2 million from $83.2 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter swung to $20.9 million or 29 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $13.8 million or 18 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

For the year 2011 net sales increased to $292.7 million from $211.8 million in last year. Net loss for the year widened to $47.6 million or 68 cents per diluted share compared to $2.5 million or 4 cents per share in the prior year.

Ebix, Inc. ((EBIX)) gained 6.3% or $1.45 to $24.14 after the software company reported fourth quarter revenues soared 26% to $44.1 million from $35.1 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter increased 9% to $17.3 million or 44 cents per diluted share compared to $15.9 million or 42 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

In 2011 net sales surged 28% to $169 million from $132.2 million in last year. Net income for the year increased 21% to $71.4 million or $1.75 per diluted share compared to $59.0 million or $1.51 per share in the prior year.

FactSet Research Systems Inc. ((FDS)) increased 5.3% or $4.88 to $95.69 after the analytical software company reported second quarter revenue grew 12.2% to $199.4 million from $177.6 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter rose 3.3% to $46.7 million or $1.02 per diluted share compared to $45.2 million or 95 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

Raven Industries, Inc. ((RAVN) advanced 4.6% or $2.83 to $64.26 after the fabricated plastic and rubber maker reported fourth quarter sales soared 36% to $96.3 million from $70.7 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter surged 49% to $11.0 million or 60 cents per diluted share compared to $7.4 million or 41 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

For the year 2011 sales increased 21% to $381.5 million from $314.7 million in last year. Net income for the year soared 25% to $50.6 million or $2.77 per diluted share compared to $40.5 million or $2.24 per share in the prior year.

Urban Outfitters, Inc. ((URBN)) dropped 6.1% or $1.80 to $27.70 after the lifestyle specialty retailer reported fourth quarter net sales increased 9% to $730.6 million from $668.4 million in the same quarter last year. Comparable store sales increased 2%. Net income in the quarter slumped to $39.3 million or 27 cents per diluted share compared to $75.2 million or 45 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

For the year 2011 net sales grew 9% to $2.47 billion from $2.27 billion in last year. Comparable store sales were flat in the period. Net income for the year decreased to $185.2 million or $1.19 per diluted share compared to $272.9 million or $1.60 per share in the prior year.

X-Rite, Inc ((XRIT)) increased 2.9% or 13 cents to $4.55 after the technology company reported fourth quarter net sales edged down 0.9% to $58.5 million from $59 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter surged to $44.9 million or 51 cents per diluted share compared to $4.0 million or 5 cents per share in the year ago earlier.

For the year 2011 net sales increased 6.7% to $237.6 million from $222.7 million in last year. Net income for the year soared to $49.4 million or 56 cents per diluted share compared to $3.6 million or 4 cents per share in the prior year.
