U.S. Movers: Avon, BorgWarner, Fossil, HCP, Omnicom, Watson

    BorgWarner fourth quarter net increased to $122 million. Omnicom quarterly net increased 10% on 7.4% rise in sales. Watson Pharmaceuticals fourth quarter net surged to $94.8 million.

Avon Products, Inc. ((AVP)) increased 3.4% or 60 cents to $18.13 after the personal care products maker reported fourth quarter total revenue fell 4% to $3.04 billion from $3.17 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter was $0.4 million compared to net income of $229.5 million or 53 cents per diluted share in the year ago earlier.

For 2011 total revenue increased 4% to $11.3 billion from $10.9 billion in last year. Net income for the year decreased 15% to $513.6 million or $1.18 per diluted share compared to $606.3 million or $1.39 per share in the prior year.

BorgWarner Inc. ((BWA)) decreased 1.4% or $1.17 to $77.68 after the automotive system supplier reported fourth quarter net sales increased 16% to $1.77 billion from $1.53 billion in the same quarter last year. Net earnings in the quarter increased to $122 million or $1 per diluted share compared to $111.7 million or $0.89 per diluted share in the year ago.

For 2011 total revenue increased 26% to $7.12 billion from $5.65 billion in last year. Net earnings for the year increased to $550.1 million or $4.45 per diluted share compared to $377.4 million or $3.07 per share in the prior year.

Fossil, Inc. ((FOSL)) increased 3.2% or $3.43 to $107.93 after the fashion accessories retailer reported fourth quarter net sales increased 19% to $830.8 million from $701.1 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter increased 22% to $117.9 million or $1.87 per diluted share compared to $96.7 million or $1.46 per diluted share in the year ago earlier.

HCP, Inc. ((HCP)) decreased 1.4% or 59 cents to $41.11 after the real estate investment reported fourth quarter revenue grew to $461.6 million from $341.0 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter declined to $62 million or 15 cents a diluted share compared to $136.2 million or 42 cents per diluted share in the year ago period.

Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. ((HST)) slipped 3% or 52 cents to $16.49 after the hotelier reported fourth quarter total revenues increased 11% to $1.66 billion from $1.49 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter swung to $17 million or 2 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $6 million or 1 cent per diluted share in the year ago quarter.

For 2011 total revenue increased 13% to $5.0 billion from $4.4 billion in last year. Net loss for the year narrowed to $15 million or 2 cents per diluted share compared to $138 million or 21 cents per share in the prior year.

Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. ((MMC)) decreased 1.1% or 37 cents to $31.88 after the insurance broker reported fourth quarter revenue rose 4% to $2.9 billion from $2.8 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter increased to $256 million or 46 cents per diluted share compared to $203 million or 37 cents per diluted share in the year ago.

For 2011 total revenue increased 9% to $11.5 billion from $10.5 billion in last year. Net income for the year increased to $993 million or $1.79 per diluted share compared to $855 million or $1.55 per share in the prior year.

Masco Corporation ((MAS)) dropped 12.6% or $1.67 to $11.56 after the construction materials maker reported fourth quarter net sales rose to $1.74 billion from $1.72 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter narrowed to $573 million or $1.65 per diluted share compared to $1,034 million or $2.96 per diluted share in the year ago earlier.

For 2011, net sales were flat at $7.47 billion from $7.49 billion in last year. Net loss for the year narrowed to $575 million or $1.66 per diluted share compared to $1,043 million or $3.00 per share in the prior year.

Omnicom Group Inc. ((OMC)) fell 31 cents to $47.71 after the advertising holding company reported fourth quarter revenue grew 7.4% to $3.85 billion from $3.59 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter increased 10% to $271.9 million or 96 cents per diluted share compared to $246.5 million or 83 cents per diluted share in the year ago period.

For 2011 total revenue increased 11% to $13.9 billion from $12.5 billion in last year. Net income for the year increased 15% to $952.6 million or $3.33 per diluted share compared to $827.7 million or $2.70 per share in the prior year.

Rackspace Hosting, Inc. ((RAX)) increased 9.1% or $4.48 to $53.71 after the cloud hosting services provider reported fourth quarter net revenue soared 32% to $283.3 million from $214.7 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter surged 85% to $25 million or 18 cents per diluted share compared to $13.5 million or 10 cents per diluted share in the year ago earlier.

For 2011 net revenue increased to $1.02 billion from $0.78 billion in last year. Net income for the year increased to $76.4 million or 55 cents per diluted share compared to $46.3 million or 35 cents per share in the prior year.

TransCanada Corporation ((TRP)) rose 21 cents to $41.77 after the Canada based pipeline network operator reported fourth quarter revenues grew to $2.36 billion from $2.06 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter increased to $375 million or 52 cents per diluted share compared to $269 million or 55 cents per diluted share in the year ago earlier.

Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ((WPI)) gained 3.2% or $1.89 to $59.60 after the pharmaceutical company reported fourth quarter net revenue soared 62% to $1.5 billion from $0.95 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter surged to $94.8 million or 75 cents per diluted share compared to $18.3 million or 15 cents per diluted share in the year ago earlier.
