German Manufacturing Slows; French Sentiment Improves

    Manufacturing turnover in Germany eased, French industrial production rose, but retail sales in Denmark decreased in November. Swedish December budget deficit was lower than estimated by the debt office.

German Manufacturing Slows, Corporate Insolvencies Slide

Manufacturing turnover in Germany rose 2% from a year ago in November versus 3.6% in October, the Federal Statistics Office said.

Domestic turnover increased 2.6% from last year, while foreign sales grew 1.3% in November.

Separately, German insolvency courts reported a total of 2,363 business insolvencies in October, 4.8% less than the same month last year, the Federal Statistics Office said.

The total number of insolvencies fell 9.1% from a year ago to 12,152 while insolvencies of consumers declined 9.8% to 7,838.

French Output Rises, Sentiment Improves

Industrial production in France rose 1.1% from a month ago in November, following a 0.1% increase in production in October, data from the statistics office Insee showed.

Annually, output grew 1.1% in November.

Separately, French business confidence measure improved in December to 96 from 95 in November, survey data from the Bank of France showed today.

Danish Retail Sales Fall

Denmark''s retail sales decreased a seasonally adjusted 0.5% on a monthly basis in November, after remaining flat in the previous two months, data released by Statistics Denmark showed.

Retail sales of food products fell 1.2% from a month ago and sales of clothing dropped 0.5% in November.

From a year ago, retail sales decreased 1.8% in November versus the 3.7% fall in October.

Sweden Deficit Lower

Sweden''s budget deficit for December was SEK 90.8 billion, data from the National Debt Office showed on Tuesday. The deficit was SEK 10.3 billion lower than the estimate of debt office.

Spanish Property Transactions Drop

Spain''s property transactions declined 8.8% annually in November, data from the statistics office INE showed. The number of property transfers recorded in land registries totaled 134,612 in November, up 11% from October.

Norway Inflation Slows

Norwegian consumer price index rose 0.2% from a year ago in December, slower than the 1.2% gain in November.

The annual growth rate in the core CPI was 1% in December, unchanged from November.
