Deere & Co. fourth quarter net soared to $669.6 million. Eaton Vance fourth quarter net decreased to $46.8 million. New Jersey Resources fourth quarter net loss swung to $7.51 million. Valspar reported fourth quarter net income of $295.7 million.

Books-A-Million, Inc. ((BAMM)) decreased 1.5% or 4 cents to $2.25 after the book retailer said third quarter net sales fell 8.1% to $94.4 million from $102.7 million in the same quarter last year. Comparable store sales for the quarter declined 7.7%. Net loss in the quarter widened to $4.0 million or 25 cents per diluted share compared to $1.7 million or 11 cents share a year ago earlier.
Deere & Company ((DE)) increased 4.4% or $3.18 to $75.10 after the farm equipment maker reported fourth quarter net sales increased 20% to $8.61 billion from $7.20 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter soared to $669.6 million or $1.62 per diluted share compared to $457.2 million or $1.07 share a year ago.
Eaton Vance Corp. ((EV)) slipped 1.4% or 33 cents to $22.25 after the investment company reported fourth quarter revenues fell 3% to $294.6 million from $303.6 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter decreased to $46.8 million or 40 cents per diluted share compared to $50.3 million or 41 cents share a year ago quarter.
KKR & Co. L.P. ((KKR)) decreased 2.2% or 27 cents to $11.53 after the investor group with its affiliates agreed to acquire Samson Investment Company the largest private exploration and production for $7.2 billion and expected to complete by the end of fourth quarter 2011.
New Jersey Resources Corporation ((NJR)) decreased 1.3% or 64 cents to $45.55 after the energy service provider reported fourth quarter revenues increased to $670.9 million from $631.5 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter swung to $7.51 million or 18 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $1.51 million or 4 cents share a year ago earlier.
Nuance Communications, Inc. ((NUAN)) increased 1.9% or 44 cents to $23.57 after the voice and language solution provider reported fourth quarter total revenues increased 18.5% to $367.0 million from $309.8 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter swung to $5.1 million or 2 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $2.1 million or 1 cent share a year ago period.
Pandora Media, Inc. ((P)) dropped 7.2% or 86 cents to $10.99 after the internet radio services provider reported third quarter total revenues grew to $75.0 million from $37.7 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter was to $0.6 million or break even per diluted share compared to net loss of $1.8 million or 15 cents share a year ago period.
TiVo Inc. ((TIVO)) advanced 6.4% or 62 cents to $10.19 after the hardware and software service provider reported third quarter revenues grew to $64.8 million from $50.9 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter widened to $24.5 million or 21 cents per diluted share compared to $20.6 million or 18 cents share a year ago earlier.
The Valspar Corporation ((VAL)) fell 0.3% or 14 cents to $35.86 after the coating and paint company reported fourth quarter sales increased 19.4% to $1.05 billion from $0.88 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter swung to $295.7 million or $3.18 per diluted share compared to net income of $51.3 million or $0.51 share a year ago.
