U.S. Movers: Analog Devices, Campbell Soup, Chico

    Analog Devices fourth quarter net declined to $183.5 million. Campbell first quarter net decreased to $265 million. Collective Brands third quarter net loss swung to $114.3 million. Hewlett-Packard fourth quarter net declined 91% to $0.24 billion. Medtronic second quarter net soared to $871 million.

Analog Devices, Inc. ((ADI)) decreased 1.8% or 65 cents to $33.69 after the electronic equipments maker reported fourth quarter revenue decreased 7% to $716.1 million from $770.0 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter declined to $183.5 million or 60 cents per diluted share compared to $225.0 million or 73 cents share a year ago earlier.

Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. ((BRCD)) increased 10.7% or 47 cents to $4.95 after the storage device provider reported fourth quarter revenue edged up to $550.5 million from $548.6 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter swung to $4.3 million or 1 cent per diluted share compared to net income of $22.2 million or 5 cents share a year ago quarter.

Campbell Soup Company ((CPB)) slipped 4.7% or $1.60 to $32.01 after the food products maker reported first quarter revenue fell 1% to $2.16 billion from $2.17 billion in the same quarter last year. Net earnings in the quarter decreased to $265 million or 82 cents per diluted share compared to $279 million or 82 cents share a year ago.

Chico’s FAS, Inc ((CHS)) dropped 11.7% or $1.36 to $10.24 after the specialty retailer reported third quarter net sales increased 11.5% to $538.5 million from $483.0 million in the same quarter last year. Comparable sales increased to 3.7%. Net income in the quarter fell 4.9% to $26.5 million or 16 cents per diluted share compared to $28.8 million or 16 cents share a year ago earlier.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. ((CBRL)) decreased 2.7% or $1.28 to $44.58 after the restaurant operator reported first quarter total revenue flat to $598.4 million from $598.7 million in the same quarter last year. Comparable sales fell to 3.1%. Net income in the quarter flat to $23.8 million or $1.03 per diluted share compared to $23.7 million or $1.01 share a year ago earlier.

Cubic Corporation ((CUB)) rose 0.3% or 16 cents to $43.77 after the defense and cyber security products maker reported fourth quarter revenue slipped to $346.9 million from $347.7 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter rose to $24.1 million or 90 cents per diluted share compared to $13.3 million or 49 cents share a year ago quarter.

Cedar Fair, L.P. ((FUN)) increased 1.8% or 40 cents to $22.49 after the recreational activity provider reported third quarter total revenue rose 5% to $572.3 million from $545.0 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter soared to $152.7 million or $2.74 per diluted share compared to $75.7 million or $1.36 share a year ago period.

Collective Brands, Inc. ((PSS)) slumped 10.5% or $1.45 to $12.25 after the apparel and accessories retailer reported third quarter net sales grew 1.4% to $894.4 million from $881.8 million in the same quarter last year. Same store sales decreased 3.7%. Net loss in the quarter swung to $114.3 million or $1.91 per diluted share compared to net income of $47.6 million or $0.75 share a year ago earlier.

DSW Inc. ((DSW)) decreased 1.1% or 51 cents to $44.34 after the footwear retailer reported third quarter net sales grew 8.5% to $530.7 million from $489.3 million in the same quarter last year. Comparable sales increased to 5.2%. Net income in the quarter swung to $53.7 million or 75 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $3.3 million or 16 cents share a year ago earlier.

Focus Media Holding Limited ((FMCN)) increased 6.3% or $1.06 to $16.46 after the Hong Kong based digital media platform provider responded today on allegations raised in research report by Muddy Waters of yesterday. The report alleges that Focus Media overstated the number of LCD screens display advertising network and made false claims about the location and type of buildings in which its screens are placed.

However, Focus Media will reply in conference call to respond the allegations made in the Muddy Waters report today morning.

Genesco Inc. ((GCO)) advanced 4.3% or $2.44 to $58.53 after the branded products retailer reported third quarter net sales soared 33% to $616.5 million from $464.8 million in the same quarter last year. Comparable sales increased to 12%. Net earnings in the quarter surged to $26.1 million or $1.09 per diluted share compared to $16.9 million or $0.72 share a year ago quarter.

Hormel Foods Corporation ((HRL)) increased 1.9% or 39 cents to $29.56 after the food products producer reported fourth quarter rose 2% to $2.10 billion from $2.06 million in the same quarter last year. Net earnings in the quarter fell to $117.3 million or 43 cents per diluted share compared to $121.1 million or 45 cents share a year ago earlier.

Hewlett-Packard Company ((HPQ)) decreased 3.4% or 92 cents to $25.94 after the software and technology company reported fourth quarter revenue fell 3% to $32.1 billion from $33.3 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter declined 91% to $0.24 billion or $0.12 per diluted share compared to $2.54 billion or $1.10 share a year ago.

Jack in the Box Inc. ((JACK)) increased 4.4% or 90 cents to $21.02 after the restaurant operator said fourth quarter revenue decreased to $504.2 million from $563.2 million in the same quarter last year. Net earnings in the quarter surged to $22.7 million or 49 cents per diluted share compared to $4.0 billion or 7 cents share a year ago earlier.

Medtronic, Inc. ((MDT)) gained 3.3% or $1.11 to $34.38 after the medical technology company reported second quarter revenue grew 6% to $4.13 billion from $3.90 billion in the same quarter last year. Net earnings in the quarter soared to $871 million or 82 cents per diluted share compared to $566 million or 52 cents share a year ago.

Patterson Companies, Inc. ((PDCO)) slipped 3.4% or 1.02 to $28.30 after the veterinary products distributor reported second quarter net sales fell to $856.9 million from $857.4 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter decreased to $48.9 million or 43 cents per diluted share compared to $53.4 million or 45 cents share a year ago earlier.

Signet Jewelers Limited ((SIG)) gained 2.9% or $1.30 to $44.84 after the Bermuda based jewellery retailer reported third quarter total sales increased 10% to $710.5 million from $641.8 million in the same quarter last year. Same store sales increased to 10.6%. Net income in the quarter surged 335% to $26.1 million or 30 cents per diluted share compared to $6.0 million or 7 cents share a year ago quarter.
