Net income in the quarter decreased to $1.0 million or 11 cents per diluted share compared to $9.5 million or $1.03 per share a year ago.
FTI Consulting, Inc. ((FCN)) increased 2% or 79 cents to $38.79 after the business advisory firm estimated second quarter revenues in the range of $395 million to $401 million, and adjusted earnings per share to be in the range of $0.54 to $0.59.
National Oilwell Varco, Inc. ((NOV)) decreased 1.9% or $1.55 to $79.40 after the oil and gas drilling equipment and components maker will acquire Ameron International Corporation ((AMN)) in cash transaction for $772 million. Under the agreement stockholders of Ameron''s would receive $85 per share.
Ixia ((XXIA)) declined 23.4% or $3.05 to $9.96 after the communications equipment maker reported second quarter second quarter revenue expected to be in the range of $67.0 million to $69.0 million below the company''s previous guidance and expects to report breakeven net earnings per diluted share to a net loss of $0.01 per diluted share compared with prior guidance of net earnings of $0.08 to $0.12 per diluted share.
PriceSmart, Inc. ((PSMT)) slipped 1.3% or 82 cents to $59.38 after the shopping warehouse club operator reported third quarter net sales soared 23.6% to $421.6 million from $341.2 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter increased to $16.3 million or 55 cents per diluted share compared to $12.0 million or 40 cents per share a year earlier.
Regis Corporation ((RGS)) fell 0.3% or 6 cents to $15.64 after the hair salon chain reported fourth quarter consolidated revenues grew 0.3% to $591.84 million from $589.95 million in the prior-year period but total same-store sales decreased 1.7%.
The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. ((GBX)) slumped 3.4% or 75 cents to $21.22 after the railroad freight car equipment maker said third quarter revenues increased to $317.3 million from $207.4 million in the same quarter last year. Net loss in the quarter was $3.3 million or 14 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $4.5 million or 23 cents per share a year earlier.
WD-40 Company ((WDFC)) increased 1.3% or 57 cents to $42.36 after the consumer products company reported third quarter sales increased 4% to $85.5 million from $82.6 million in the year-ago quarter. Net profit in the quarter declined 11.1% to $8.0 million or 47 cents per diluted share compared to net profit of $9.0 million or 54 cents per share last year.
