Synopsys, Inc. ((SNPS)) declined 3.5% or 97 cents to $26.76 after the technology solution provider reported second quarter revenues increased 16.4 to $393.7 million compared to $338.1 million in the same period last year. Net income in the quarter surged to $81 million or 53 cents per diluted share compared to $39.5 million or 26 cents per share a year ago.
The Cato Corporation ((CATO)) surged 4.4% or $1.14 to $26.65 after the women’s fashion specialty store operator reported first quarter net sales surged 5% to $270.9 million compared to $259.0 million in the same period last year. Same store sales increased 2%. Net income in the quarter increased to $30.5 million or $1.04 per diluted share compared to $25.1 million or $0.85 per share a year earlier.
