BroadSoft, Inc. ((BSFT)) rose 0.1% or 5 cents to $43.13 after it reported first quarter revenues soared 67% to $29.7 million compared to $17.8 million in the same period last year. Net income in the quarter to $3.7 million or 13 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $2.6 million or 41 cents per share a year ago.

Dynegy Inc. ((DYN)) slipped 2.5% or 16 cents to $6.25 after the holding company reported first quarter revenues declined to $505 million compared to $858 million in the same period last year. Net loss in the quarter was $77 million or $0.64 per diluted share compared to net income of $145 million or $1.20 per share a year ago.

Dril-Quip, Inc. ((DRQ)) increased 1.3% or 82 cents to $66.14 after the offshore drilling and production reported first quarter revenues edged down to $107.6 million compared to $107.9 million in the same period last year. Net income in the quarter fell $21.7 million or 54 cents per diluted share compared to $25.7 million or 64 cents per share a year ago.

Hecla Mining Company ((HL)) gained 3.5% or 29 cents to $8.38 after the mining company said first quarter revenues increased to $136.3 million from $79.8 million last year. Net income in the quarter surged to $43.2 million or 15 cents per diluted share compared with $18.4 million or 7 cents per share in the prior year.

Quicksilver Resources Inc. ((KWK)) increased 1.1% or 16 cents to $14.03 after the energy company reported first quarter revenues fell to $212.2 million compared to $222.1 million in the same period last year. Net loss in the quarter fell $70.8 million or 42 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $8.2 million or 5 cents per share a year ago.

Sysco Corporation ((SYY)) surged 14.8% or $4.18 to $32.70 after the food and related product distributor reported third quarter revenues surged 9.1% to $9.8 billion compared to $8.9 billion in the same period last year. Net earnings in the quarter rose to $258.5 million or 44 cents per diluted share compared to $247.6 million or 42 cents per share a year ago.

Sempra Energy ((SRE)) fell 0.9% or 54 cents to $54.32 after the holding company reported first quarter total revenues fell to $2.4 billion compared to $2.5 billion in the same period last year. Net earnings in the quarter soared to $258 million or $1.07 per diluted share compared to $106 million or $0.42 per share a year ago.

Southern Union Company ((SUG)) advanced 1.4% or 40 cents to $28.76 after the natural gas company reported first quarter revenues fell to $746.8 million compared to $759.0 million in the same period last year. Net earnings in the quarter rose to $60.6 million or 48 cents per diluted share compared to $54.3 million or 43 cents per share a year ago.

STERIS Corporation ((STE)) slumped 1.7% or 63 cents to $35.70 after the healthcare products maker said fourth quarter revenues increased 14% to $377.7 million compared to $332.1 million in the same period last year. Net income in the quarter rose to $39.0 million or 65 cents per diluted share compared to $29.8 million or 50 cents per share a year ago.

The AES Corporation ((AES)) rose 0.3% or 5 cents to $12.98 after the power company reported first quarter total revenues rose to $2.4 billion compared to $3.9 billion in the same period last year. Net income in the quarter soared to $224 million or 28 cents per diluted share compared to $187 million or 27 cents per share a year ago.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. ((VRX)) gained 2.5% or $1.27 to $51.27 after the Canada based specialty pharmaceutical company reported first quarter revenues soared to $565.0 million from $219.6 million last year. Net income in the quarter surged to $6.48 million or 2 cents per diluted share compared with net loss of $3.15 million or 2 cents per share in the prior year.

Zoran Corporation ((ZRAN)) tumbled 11.9% or $1.14 to $8.44 after the digital entertainment provider first quarter revenues fell to $84.9 million compared to $90.4 million in the same period last year. Net loss in the quarter widened to $30.3 million or 62 cents per diluted share compared to $4.0 million or 8 cents per share a year ago.
