Alberto Culver Company ((ACV)) fell 0.05% or 2 cents to $37.32 after the beauty care, food and household products maker reported second quarter revenue rose 6.1% to $408.2 million from $384.8 million in the same quarter last year. Net earnings in the quarter rose to $36.5 million or 35 cents per diluted share compared to $30.1 million or 30 cents per share for the year-ago quarter.
AmeriGas Partners, L.P. ((APU)) decreased 1.1% or 53 cents to $47.55 after the retail propane distributor reported second quarter revenue increased to $906.8 million from $886.1 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter declined to $118 million or $1.45 per diluted share compared to $134.5 million or $1.59 per share a year ago.
Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, LP ((BWP)) slipped 2% or 69 cents to $32.78 after the intrastate pipeline company said first quarter revenue rose 3% to $311.0 million from $300.5 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter fell to $83.0 million or 42 cents per diluted share compared to $90.3 million or 46 cents per share a year ago.
Chrysler Group LLC, the automaker reported first quarter revenue soared 35% to $13.1 billion from last year''s $9.7 billion as 16 new or significantly refreshed products in the marketplace supported volume growth and positive pricing and mix. Net income generated in the quarter was $116 million compared with a loss of $197 million in the prior-year quarter.
DISH Network Corporation ((DISH)) soared 15% or $3.80 to $28.76 after the satellite television services provider reported first quarter total revenues soared 5.5% to $3.22 billion compared to $3.06 billion in the same period last year. Net income in the quarter surged 138% to $549 million or $1.22 per diluted share compared to $231 million or $0.52 per share a year ago.
Edison International ((EIX)) fell 0.05% or 2 cents to $39.25 after the holding company reported second quarter revenue edged down to $2.78 billion from $2.81 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter declined to $200 million or 61 cents per diluted share compared to $236 million or 72 cents per share for the year-ago quarter.
EchoStar Corporation ((SATS)) declined 4.1% or $1.52 to $35.56 after the holding company reported first quarter revenue declined 23.5% to $480 million from $627 million in the same quarter of 2010. Net income in the quarter tumbled to $17 million or 19 cents per diluted share compared with $72 million or 84 cents per share a year ago.
Humana Inc. ((HUM)) rose 0.3% or 28 cents to $76.40 after the healthcare company reported first quarter total revenues soared 9.7% to $9.19 billion compared to $8.38 billion in the same period last year. Net income in the quarter surged 21.8% to $315.1 million or $1.86 per diluted share compared to $258.7 million or $1.52 per share a year ago.
Haemonetics Corporation ((HAE)) plunged 3.8% or $2.72 to $67.48 after the medical device maker said fourth quarter revenue rose to $170.0 million from $169.1 million in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter surged 429% to $21.0 million or 81 cents per diluted share compared to $4.0 million or 15 cents per share for the year-ago quarter.
Loews Corporation ((L)) slumped 2.6% or $1.14 to $43.12 after the diversified holding company reported first quarter revenue fell 1.1% to $3.67 billion from $3.71 billion in the same quarter of 2010. Net income in the quarter slipped 9% to $382 million or 92 cents per diluted share compared with $420 million or 99 cents per share a year ago.
TiVo Inc. ((TIVO)) surged 6.5% or 62 cents to $10.19 after the television technology and service provider said today that DISH Network Corporation ((DISH)) and EchoStar Corporation ((SATS)) settled all of their ongoing patent litigation.
Under the terms: DISH Network and EchoStar agreed to pay TiVo $500 million, including an initial payment of $300 million with the remaining $200 million distributed in six equal annual installments between 2012 and 2017.
UDR, Inc. ((UDR)) rose 0.1% or 5 cents to $25.94 after the real estate investment trust said first quarter rental income increased to $164.5 million from $145.1 million last year. Net loss in the quarter widened to $30.2 million or 17 cents per share compared to $26.4 million or 17 cents per share in the prior-year quarter.
UGI Corporation ((UGI)) fell 0.4 or 16 cents to $33.14 after the holding company reported second quarter revenue edged up to $2.18 billion from $2.12 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income in the quarter fell to $149.4 million or $1.32 per diluted share compared to $157.1 million or $1.43 per share for the year-ago quarter.
