Ambassadors International, Inc. ((AMIE)) plunged 71.7% or $2.01 to 79 cents after the cruise line operator filed for a bankruptcy protection.

BHP Billiton ((BHP)) increased 1.3% to $81.71 as crude oil prices rise to 30-month high.

Epicor Software Corp ((EPIC)) soared 11.2% or $1.26 to $12.50 after the software company said it agreed to be acquired by private equity funds managed by Apax Partners for $12.50 a share.

Electro Rent Corporation ((ELRC)) fell 0.4% or 7 cents to $17.25 after the electronic test and measurement equipment seller reported third quarter total revenue soared to $59.4 million from $33.0 million in the previous year. Net income in the quarter surged 80% to $5 million or 21 cents per diluted share compared to $2.1 million or 9 cents per share last year.

Pfizer Inc ((PFE)) added 0.6% or 14 cents to $20.52 after the company said it sold its Capusgel business to private equity manager Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co for $2.38 billion in cash.

Southwest Airlines Co. ((LUV)) declined 2.9% or 37 cents to $12.30 and the company said it will cancel 70 flights today after the National Transportation Safety Board discovered “small cracks” in three 737-300 jets.

Vivus Inc ((VVUS)) increased 9.5% or 60 cents to $6.91 after the company said its experimental drug to lower blood pressure showed positive results after two years of use.
