[R]10:30 AM New York – Hormel Foods first quarter net earnings increased 34% to $148.8 million. Macy’s fourth quarter net income rose to $667 million. Medco Health fourth quarter net income increased 10% to $378.5 million. Home Depot quarterly net income rose surged 72% to $587 million. Wal-Mart net income rose surged 27.3% to $6.06 billion.[/R]

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. led the decliners with a fall of 3.23%, followed by decline in JPMorgan Chase & Co. of 2.08%, in The Walt Disney Company of 2.07%, in Bank of America Corporation of 2.03%, in E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company of 1.77%.

Net income in the quarter decreased to $52 million or 21 cents per diluted share compared to net income $79 million or 34 cents per share a year ago period.
Choice Hotels International, Inc. ((CHH)) declined 3.2% or $1.32 to $39.93 after the hotel franchisor reported fourth quarter total revenue rose 10% to $155.01 million from $140.70 million in the same quarter last year. Net income for the quarter improved 2.2% to $24.14 million or 40 cents per diluted share from $23.63 million or 40 cents per share in the fourth quarter of the previous year.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. ((CBRL)) slumped 4.1% or $2.23 to $51.11 after the restaurant chain operator said second quarter total revenue increased 1.2% to $640.28 million from $632.62 million in the previous year. Net income in the quarter rose 13.4% to $28.78 million or $1.20 per share compared to last year''s net income of $25.39 million or $1.09 per share.
Daktronics, Inc. ((DAKT)) tumbled 19.1% or $3.12 to $13.14 after the electronic scoreboards and display systems maker said third quarter net sale increased to $99.9 million from $72.4 million a prior year. Net income in the quarter was $1.8 million or 4 cents per diluted share compared to net loss $8.4 million or 20 cents per share a year ago.
Digital Realty Trust, Inc. ((DLR)) fell 0.9% or 53 cents to $56.99 after the company which owns and operates data centers reported fourth quarter total operating revenues surged 40.6% to $238.7 million from $169.8 million in the same quarter last year. Net income for the quarter grew 73.4% to $24.8 million or 27 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $14.3 million or 18 cents per share a year before.
Encore Energy Partners LP ((ENP)) slipped 3% or 72 cents to $22.56 after the oil and natural gas company reported fourth quarter total revenues increased to $47.40 million from $46.56 million a prior year. Net loss in the quarter increased to $14.09 million or 31 cents per diluted share compared to $13.17 million or 29 cents per share a same quarter last year.
Forest Oil Corporation ((FST)) plunged 7.5% or $2.93 to $36.12 after the oil and gas company said fourth quarter total revenues increased to $214.40 million from $214.38 million a prior year. Net earnings in the quarter decreased to $16.19 million or 14 cents per diluted share compared to $45.19 million or 40 cents per share a year ago period.
Henry Schein, Inc. ((HSIC)) decreased 3.5% or $2.46 to $67.39 after the healthcare service provider reported fourth quarter net sales increased 13.3% to $2.0 billion from $1.8 billion a prior year. Net income in the quarter increased 8.5% to $93.0 million or $1.00 per diluted share compared to $86.4 million or $0.94 per share a year ago period.
For the full year net sales increased 15.1% to $7.5 billion from $6.5 billion a prior year. Net income increased 15.4% to $325.8 million or $3.49 per diluted share compared to $311.2 million or $3.41 per share a year ago period.
Hormel Foods Corporation ((HRL)) increased 1.9% or 53 cents to $27.45 after the food and grocery product producer said first quarter net sales increased 11.2% to $1.92 billion from $1.73 billion a prior year. Net earnings in the quarter increased 34% to $148.8 million or 55 cents per diluted share compared to $111.2 million or 41 cents per share a year ago period.
Huron Consulting Group Inc ((HURN)) decreased 2.6% or 77 cents to $28.90 after the business consulting services provider reported fourth quarter revenues increased 1.6% to $144.2 million from $141.9 million last year. Net loss in the quarter was $4.87 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $9.51 million or 47 cents per share in the prior-year period.
Kaiser Aluminum Corp. ((KALU)) slipped 2.3% or $1.23 to $51.54 after the semi-fabricated specialty aluminum products manufacturing company reported fourth quarter net sales rose 12.2% to $ 265.8 million from $237.0 million a year earlier. Net loss in the quarter was $0.4 million or 2 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $23.9 million or $1.19 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Macy’s, Inc. ((M)) rose 0.6% or 16 cents to $23.91 after the apparel retail stores operator reported fourth quarter net sale increased 5.4% to $8.3 billion from $7.8 billion a prior year. Net income in the quarter increased to $667 million or $1.55 per diluted share compared to $445 million or $1.05 per share a year ago period.
For the full year net sales increased 6.4% to $25.0 billion from $23.5 billion a prior year. Net income increased to $847 million or $1.98 per diluted share compared to $329 million or $0.78 per share a year ago period.
Medco Health Solutions, Inc. ((MHS)) declined 2.9% or $1.91 to $62.87 after the healthcare company said fourth quarter net revenue increased 11.1% to $16.9 billion from $15.3 billion a prior year. Net income in the quarter increased 10.3% to $378.5 million or 88 cents per diluted share compared to $341.5 million or 70 cents per share a year ago period.
For the full year net revenue increased to $66.0 billion from $59.8 billion a prior year. Net income increased to $1.43 billion or $3.16 per diluted share compared to $1.28 billion or $2.61 per share a year ago.
Medtronic, Inc. ((MDT)) plunged 1.7% or 73 cents to $40.54 after the medical technology company reported third quarter revenue increased 3% to $3.96 billion from $3.85 billion for the year-ago period. Net earnings in the quarter increased to $924 million or 86 cents per diluted share compared to $831 million or 75 cents per share from a year ago.
NRG Energy, Inc. ((NRG)) decreased 1.8% or 38 cents to $20.51 after the power generation company said fourth quarter revenues fell to $1.82 billion from $2.14 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009. Net loss in the quarter was $17 million or 7 cents per share compared with net income of $27 million or 11 cents per share last year.
For the full year, net sales fell to $8.85 billion from $8.95 billion. Net income the year increased to $468 million or $1.84 per share compared to $909 million or $3.44 per share a year ago.
Office Depot, Inc. ((ODP)) surged 8.4% or 46 cents to $5.93 after the supplier of office products and services said fourth quarter sales declined 4% to $2.96 billion from $3.07 billion in the prior-year quarter. Net loss in the quarter narrowed 25% to $57.8 million or 21 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $76.71 million or 28 cents per share last year.
For the full year, net sales fell 4% to $11.6 billion from $12.4 billion. Net income the year increased to $2.2 million or $0.01 per share compared to $626.9 million or $2.30 per share a year ago.
ONEOK, Inc. ((OKE)) fell 0.4% or 27 cents to $64.38 after the diversified energy company reported fourth quarter revenues declined 10% to $3.36 billion from $3.73 billion in the prior-year period. Net income in the quarter fell 11.1% to $83.07 million or 76 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $93.44 million or 87 cents per share in the same period last year.
Petrohawk Energy Corporation ((HK)) rose 0.6% or 14 cents to $20.49 after the oil and natural gas company said fourth quarter revenues soared to $402.0 million from $351.6 million in the same quarter of last year. Net loss in the quarter was $79.6 million or 26 cents per diluted share compared net income of $36.5 million or 12 cents per share from a year ago.
For the full year, revenues increased to $1.6 billion from $1.0 billion. Net income soared to $188.7 million or $0.62 per share compared to net loss of $1,025 million or $3.66 per share the prior year.
Public Service Enterprise Group Inc ((PEG)) fell 0.1% or 6 cents to $31.68 after the holding company reported fourth quarter revenues fell to $2.74 billion from $2.81 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter was $282 million or 56 cents per diluted share compared net income of $349 million or 69 cents per share from a year ago.
R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company ((RRD)) plunged 2.5% or 50 cents to $18.89 after the provider of integrated communications reported fourth quarter net sales improved 5% to $2.71 billion from $2.58 billion last year. Net profit generated in the quarter was $27 million or 13 cents per share compared to a loss of $79.5 million or 39 cents per share a year earlier.
The Home Depot, Inc ((HD)) rose 0.2% or 11 cents to $38.59 after the home improvement retailer stated fourth quarter sales rose 3.8% to $15.13 billion for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 from $14.57 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009. Net earnings in the quarter surged 72% to $587 million or 36 cents per diluted share compared to net earnings of $342 million or 20 cents per share last year.
Comparable store sales, or sales from stores open for at least a year, increased 3.9% with a 4.8% rise in comp sales for U.S. stores.
V.F. Corporation ((VFC)) soared 9.9% or $8.91 to $98.71 after the apparel company said fourth quarter revenues increased 11% to $2.1 billion from $.9 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter rose 8% to $54.2 million or 49 cents per diluted share compared $66.9 million or 60 cents per share from a year ago.
For the full year, revenues increased 7% to $7.7 billion from $7.2 billion. Net income soared to $571.36 million or $5.18 per share compared to of $461.27 million or $4.13 per share the prior year.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (( )) declined 2.8% or $1.60 to $53.78 after the largest retailer said fourth quarter revenues grew 2.4% to $116.36 billion from $113.62 billion in the prior-year quarter. Consolidated net income in the quarter soared 27.3% to $6.06 billion or $1.70 per diluted share compared to net income of $4.76 billion or $1.25 per share last year.
