Verizon Communications Inc. led the decliners with a fall of 1.04%, followed by decline in General Electric Company of 0.49%, in AT&T Inc. of 0.35%, in McDonald’s Corporation of 0.24%, in United Technologies Corporation of 0.19%.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. ((ANF)) soared 5.3% or $2.84 to $56.25 after the specialty retailer reported fourth quarter net sales increased 23% to $1.15 billion from $0.94 billion a year ago.
Comparable store sales increased 13%. Direct-to-consumer net merchandise sales increased 43% to $133.4 million. Net income in the quarter rose 8.1% to $92.6 million or $1.03 per diluted share compared to $47.4 million or $0.68 per share last year.
For the full year, revenues surged to $3.47 billion from $2.93 billion. Net income in the year was $150.2 million or $1.67 a share compared to $0.3 million or 0.00 per share a year ago.
Analog Devices, Inc. ((ADI)) fell 0.6% or 27 cents to $40.73 after the IC chips maker stated first quarter revenue rose 21% to $728.50 million from $602.98 million last year. Net income in the quarter increased 84.4% to $222.11 million or 72 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $120.46 million or 40 cents per share in the previous year.
BHP Billiton Limited ((BHP)) decreased 1.2% or $1.21 to $93.35 after the diversified natural resources company reported revenues for the first-half rose 39% to $34.17 billion from $24.58 billion in the same period last year.
Profit in the period surged 72% to $10.52 billion or $1.89 per share as against $6.02 billion or $1.10 per share in the same period last year. Further, the company declared a 10% increase in interim dividend to 46 cents.
Cimarex Energy Co. ((XEC)) gained 4.3% or $4.70 to $111.80 after the oil and gas exploration company said fourth quarter revenue increased to $408.03 million from $328.80 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose to $117.6 million or $1.37 per diluted share compared to $104.6 million or $1.23 per share last year.
For the full year, revenues surged to $1.61 billion from $1.01 billion. Net income was $574.78 million or $6.70 per share compared to net loss of $311.94 million or $3.82 per share a year ago.
Capella Education Company ((CPLA)) rose 0.6% or 33 cents to $52.58 after the post-secondary education services company said fourth quarter revenue increased 21.3% to $114.7 million from $94.5 million a prior year. Net income in the quarter surged 20.3% to $18.1 million or $1.09 per diluted share compared to $15.0 million or $0.88 per share a year ago.
Deere & Company ((DE)) advanced 2.4% or $2.31 to $95.93 after the farm and construction machinery maker reported first quarter worldwide net sales and revenues increased 26.4% to $6.12 billion from $4.84 billion last year. Net income in the quarter rose 111% to $513.7 million or $1.20 per diluted share compared to net income of $243.2 million or 57 cents per share last year.
Devon Energy Corporation ((DVN)) fell 0.4% or 42 cents to $87.68 after the oil and natural gas company reported fourth quarter revenue decreased to $2.13 billion from $2.44 billion a year ago. Net earnings in the quarter declined to $562 million or $1.29 per diluted share compared to $667 million or $1.50 per share last year.
For the full year, revenues surged to $9.94 billion from $8.01 billion. Net earnings was $4.55 billion or $10.31 per share compared to net loss of $2.48 billion or $5.58 per share a year ago.
Dell Inc. ((DELL)) soared 9.4% or $1.31 to $15.22 after the PC maker said fourth quarter revenue rose 5% to $15.69 billion from $14.90 billion in the same quarter last year, as commercial and enterprise sectors continue to be solid. Net income in the quarter surged 178% to $927 million or 48 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $334 million or 17 cents per share for the year-ago quarter.
Revenue for the fiscal year 2011 increased 16% to $61.49 billion from $52.90 billion the prior year. For the fiscal year 2011, the company reported net income of $2.64 billion or $1.35 per share, compared to $1.43 billion or $0.73 per share for the full year 2009.
Dean Foods Company ((DF)) surged 5.3% or 58 cents to $10.37 after the food and beverage company said fourth quarter net sales rose to $3.16 billion from $2.99 billion in the same quarter of last year. Net loss in the quarter to $20.74 million or 11 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $50.27 million or 27 cents per share last year.
For the full year, net sales surged to $12.12 billion from $11.11 billion. Net income increased to $91.49 million or $0.50 per share compared to $240.31 million or $1.38 per share a year ago.
Donaldson Company, Inc. ((DCI)) plunged 3.6% or $2.23 to $59.55 after the filtration system maker reported second quarter net sales increased 23% to $537 million from $436 million last year. Net earnings in the quarter increased 44% to $45 million or 56 cents per diluted share compared to $31 million or 39 cents per share in the previous year.
Dollar General Corporation ((DG)) soared 12.6% or $3.41 to $30.34.
Family Dollar Stores, Inc. ((FDO)) surged 23.3% or $10.27 to $54.23 after the retail discount store confirmed that it received an unsolicited conditional proposal from Nelson Peltz controlled Trian Group at a price in the range of $55 to $60 a share in cash, subject to due diligence, financing and other conditions.
Genzyme Corporation ((GENZ)) increased 1.5% or $1.17 to $75.47 after the biotechnology company stated fourth quarter total revenues improved 23% to $1.15 billion from $938 million prior year. Net income in the quarter surged 1934% to $471.9 million or $1.76 per share compared to net income of $23.2 million or 9 cents per share in the same period in 2009.

((GKNT)) slipped 1.6% or 42 cents to $25.58 after the online network company for global geek community said fourth quarter total revenues rose to $50 million from $32.6 million prior year. Fossil, Inc. ((FOSL)) advanced 1.2% or 97 cents to $79.74 after the consumer fashion accessories company reported fourth quarter revenues rose 32.8% to $701.1 million from $527.8 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter soared 38.1% to $96.7 million or $1.46 per diluted share compared to $70 million or $1.03 per share last year.
For the full year, net sales surged 31.2% to $2.03 billion from $1.55 billion. Net income increased 83.4% to $255.2 million or $3.77 a share compared to $139.2 million or $2.07 a share a year ago.
Owens Corning ((OC)) soared 6.4% or $2.17 to $36.04 after the glass fiber reinforcement producer said fourth quarter net loss was $110 million or 89 cents per diluted share compared to $21 million or 17 cents per share last year.
For the full year, net sales rose 4% to $5.0 billion from $4.8 billion. Net income increased to $933 million or $7.37 per share compared to $64 million or $0.50 per share a year ago.
P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Inc ((PFCB)) surged 6.3% or $3.04 to $51.20 after the restaurant operator reported fourth quarter revenues fell 4.7% to $311.1 million from $326.6 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter soared 22% to $14.6 million or 64 cents per diluted share compared to $12.0 million or 52 cents per share last year.
For the full year, net revenue rose 1.2% to $1.24 billion from $1.23 billion. Net income increased 7.9% to $46.6 million or $2.02 per share compared to $43.2 million or $1.85 per share a year ago.
Pan American Silver Corp. ((PAAS)) slumped 5.3% or $1.96 to $34.57 after the Canada based silver mining company said fourth quarter sales increased 24% to $191.1 million from $154.4 million last year. Net income in the quarter increased 67% to $46.4 million or 43 cents per diluted share compared to $27.8 million or 31 cents per share in the previous year.
Rogers Communications Inc. ((RCI)) fell 0.3% or 12 cents to $35.08 after the diversified Canadian communications and media company said fourth quarter revenue increased 3% to $3.15 billion from $3.06 billion last year. Net income in the quarter increased 5% to $327 million or 58 cents per diluted share compared to $310 million or 51 cents per share in the previous year.
For the full year, net sales rose 4% to $12.2 billion from $11.7 billion. Net income increased 11% to $1.53 billion or $2.65 per share compared to $1.48 billion or $2.38 per share a year ago.
Rovi Corporation ((ROVI)) slumped 4.2% o $2.72 to $61.73 after the digital technology company reported fourth quarter revenues rose 2.3% to $140.2 million from $137.1 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter soared to $67.2 million or 59 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $2.6 million or 2 cents per share last year.
For the full year, revenues surged to $541.5 million from $480.5 million. Net income was $212.8 million or $1.94 per share versus a net loss of $52.9 million or $0.52 per share a year ago.
Tesla Motors, Inc. ((TSLA)) gained 4.8% or $1.11 to $23.96 after the fully electric vehicles maker said fourth quarter revenues rose 16% to $36.3 million from $31.2 million in the same quarter of last year. Net loss in the quarter was $51.4 million or 54 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $34.9 million or 38 cents per share from a year ago.
United Therapeutics Corporation ((UTHR)) increased 1.6% or $1.05 to $68.14 after the biotechnology company reported fourth quarter revenues rose to $166.5 million from $108.9 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter was $9.5 million or 17 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $3.3 million or 6 cents per share from a year ago.
ValueClick, Inc. ((VCLK)) soared 10.5% or $1.56 to $16.36 after the online marketing services company said fourth quarter revenues rose 17% to $128.7 million from $110.4 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter rose to $21.0 million or 26 cents per diluted share compared to $15.5 million or 51 cents per share last year.
For the full year, revenues rose to $430.8 million from $422.7 million. Net income increased to $90.5 million or $1.10 per share compared to $68.6 million or $0.79 per share a year ago.
WellCare Health Plans, Inc. ((WCG)) advanced 2.7% or 94 cents to $35.60 after the provider of Medicare and Medicaid managed care health plans stated fourth-quarter total revenues decreased 16% to $1.36 billion from $1.62 billion in the comparable period last year. Net income in the quarter grew 135% to $26.1 million or 61 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $11.1 million or 26 cents per share last year.
Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc ((WPI)) rose 0.9% or 50 cents to $56.99 after the specialty pharmaceutical company said fourth quarter revenues rose 21% to $952.7 million from $785.7 million in the same quarter of last year. Net income in the quarter declined to $18.3 million or 15 cents per diluted share compared to $56.9 million or 51 cents per share last year.
For the full year, revenues surged 28% to $3.6 billion from $2.8 billion. Net income fell to $184.4 million or $1.48 per share compared to $222.0 million or $1.96 per share a year ago.
