Ahluwalia Contracts fell 1% after net profit slumped 46%. LIC Housing Finance surged 10.8% after government controlled pension fund resumed investment in the company. Reliance Communications gained 4% and net profit fell 57%. Tata Power soared 6% after net profit of surged 348%.

The BSE Sensex rose 0.3% or 71.60 to close at 18,273.80 The CNX Nifty on the National Stock Exchange gained 25.00 to close at 5,481.00.

Ankur Drugs and Pharma Ltd rose 0.9% to Rs 66.35 after the pharmaceutical company reported third quarter net loss of Rs 20.09 crore compared to net profit of Rs 28.14 crore from year ago.

Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Limited fell 0.5% to Rs 130.00 after the construction company said third quarter net profit slumped 46.5% to Rs 14.14 crore and net sales fell 16.4% to Rs 378.22 crore.

Confidence Petroleum India Limited surged 15.7% to Rs 19.85 after the LPG/CNG cylinder maker said to commence commercial operation of four additional auto LPG dispensing stations in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

Ispat Industries Limited rose 2% to Rs 22.75 after the iron and steel maker reported second quarter net loss of Rs 409.31 crore compared to net profit of Rs 18.87 crore from a year ago

Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited gained 4.5% to Rs 41.40 after the power and transmission company board approved fund raising up to Rs 3,500 crore.

Kavveri Telecom Products Limited increased 1.3% to Rs 114.50 after the turnkey solution of telecom said third quarter net profit rose 33.1% to Rs 12.06 crore.

Man Industries (India) Limited gained 4.2% to Rs 64.55 after the carbon steel line pipe maker reported third quarter net profit fell 17% to Rs 25.67 crore.

Mahindra Composites Limited soared 11.6% to Rs 64.60 after the polymer composite compounds maker company''s board approved rights issue.

LIC Housing Finance Limited surged 10.8% to Rs 190.60 after the Labour ministry controlled Employees'' Provident Fund Organization resumed investment in the company.

Phillips Carbon Black Limited surged 15.8% to Rs 148.85 after the carbon black maker arranged debt of $900 million from ICICI Bank for its planned bid for the carbon black business.

Reliance Communications Ltd. gained 4.4% to Rs 101.45 after the telecommunication company reported third quarter consolidated net profit fell 56.7% to Rs 480.27 crore and net sales decline 5.9% to Rs 4,824.58 crore.

Tata Power Company Limited soared 5.9% to Rs 1,267.90 after the power utilities company reported consolidated net profit surged 347.8% to Rs 441.37 crore and net sales fell 1.7% to Rs 4,412.91 crore

Tata Motors Limited surged 8.1% to Rs 1,237.85 after the automobile company’s global vehicle sales rose 16% to 98,998 units in January from a year ago month.

Videocon Industries Limited increased 1.2% to Rs 197.95 after the home appliances maker said first quarter net profit increased 23.31% to Rs 162.36 crore and net sales rise 12.28% to Rs 3,151.17 crore.

Unitech Limited rose 0.2% to Rs 34.95 after the real estate developer reported third quarter consolidated net profit slumped 36.9% to Rs 111.36 crore and total income fell 14.8% to Rs 659.79 crore.
