Ashok Leyland January total sales fell 2% to 7,711 units. Great Offshore quarterly net profit slumped 96%. GlaxoSmithKline third quarter net profit surged 58%. National Aluminium increased prices by 5%. Voltas Limited third quarter net profit declined 7%.

The BSE Sensex gained 1.9% or 358.69 to close at 18,449.31 The CNX Nifty on the National Stock Exchange increased 94.75 to close at 5,526.75.

Ashok Leyland Limited declined 2% to Rs 54.55 after the commercial vehicle maker said total sales fell 2.03% to 7,711 units in January.

BF Utilities Limited surged 19.9% to Rs 845.60 after the Supreme Court approved the acquisition of land in Bangalore for Nandi Infrastructure Corridor project.

California Software Company Ltd. rose 0.9% after the information technology signed agreement for selling its outsourced product development business to Alten Europe for Rs 100 crore.

Great Offshore Limited declined 1.5% to Rs 294.15 after the marine construction company said third quarter net profit slumped 96.3% to Rs 1.83 crore.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Limited soared 6.7% to Rs 2,105 after it reported third quarter net profit surged 58.5% to Rs 53.37 crore.

Greaves Cotton Limited rose 0.6% to Rs 92.40 after the engineering company entered in term agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra to supply single cylinder engines for its three wheelers.

Hindustan Construction Company Limited soared 4.2% to Rs 37.05 after the infrastructure company secured contract worth Rs 345.30 crore from Narmada Sarovar Nigam, a state government undertaking.

Haldyn Glass Gujarat Limited surged 6.9% to Rs 12.71 after the glass bottles and container maker said third quarter net profit soared 47.3% to Rs 4.64 crore.

Jai Corp Limited increased 1.7% to Rs 171.90 after the conglomerate reported third quarter net profit surged 53.9% to Rs 23.99 crore.

National Aluminium Company Limited gained 3.1% to Rs 420.80 after the aluminum producer increased the price by 5% or Rs 6,000 per ton.

Oracle Financial Services Software Limited slumped 3.2% to Rs 2,102.90 after the information technology’s customer Allied Irish Banks Plc filed lawsuit in the High Court of Ireland against the company claiming 84 million euros in damages.

Voltas Limited slumped 3.4% to Rs 181.10 after the refrigeration maker said third quarter consolidated net profit declined 6.8% to Rs 70.55 crore.

Whirlpool of India Limited surged 6.2% to Rs 230.20 after the home appliance maker reported third quarter net profit soared 49.13% to Rs 24.10 crore.
