Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. ((ANR)) increased 2% or $1.22 to $60.30 on speculation that Arch Coal Inc. ((ACI)) the coal companies planning to acquire Richmond, VA based Massey Energy Company ((MEE)).
Citigroup Inc. ((C)) declined 4.9% or 26 cents to $4.87 the financial services holding company reported fourth quarter total revenue increased to $18.4 billion from $5.4 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $1.3 billion or 4 cents per diluted share compared to net loss $7.6 billion or 33 cents of per share a year ago.
Comerica Incorporated ((CMA)) plunged 6.7% or $2.83 to $39.42 after the financial services company reported fourth quarter net income was $96 million, compared to a loss of $29 million in the prior-year quarter. Net interest income rose 2.3% to $405 million from $396 million in the year-ago quarter.
Delta Air Lines, Inc. ((DAL)) decreased 2.5% or 32 cents to $12.43 after the airline reported fourth quarter total operating revenue grew 14.3% to $7.79 billion from $6.81 billion in the prior-year quarter. Net income generated in the quarter was $19 million or 2 cents per diluted share, compared to a loss of $25 million or 3 cents per share last year.
Fastenal Company ((FAST)) fell 0.4% or 24 cents to $59.65 after the industrial and construction product supplier said Revenue for the fourth quarter surged 20% to $573.8 million and net income was $65.2 million or 44 cents per share compared to $44.5 million or 30 cents per share from a year ago.
Forest Laboratories, Inc. ((FRX)) gained 3.6% or $1.14 to $32.58 after the branded drug product maker said third quarter net revenues increased to $1.13 billion from $1.06 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $320.7 million or $1.11 per diluted share compared to $210.2 billion or $0.69 per share a year ago.
General Motors Company ((GM)) slumped 1.3% or 52 cents to $37.68 after the global automotive company said Chevrolet''s U.S. sales increased 16% in 2010.
McMoRan Exploration Co. ((MMR)) slipped 3.7% or 63 cents to $16.37 after the oil and natural gas exploration company reported fourth quarter revenues was $99 million from $131 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $77 million or 75 cents per diluted share compared to $9.5 million or 11 cents of per share a year ago.
Sterling Bancshares, Inc. ((SBIB)) soared 18.3% or $1.41 to $9.11 after the bank holding company reported fourth quarter net income rose 11.8% to $1.9 million or 2 cents per diluted share, compared to net income of $1.7 million or 2 cents per share in the prior year quarter.
Net interest income after provision for credit losses declined 4.2% to $34.3 million, compared to $35.8 million in the same quarter last year.
TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. ((AMTD)) fell 0.8% or 17 cents to $20.48 after the online broker reported first quarter net revenues rose 5% to $656.2 million from $624.62 million in the prior-year quarter. Net income in the quarter increased 6.5% to $145.04 million or 25 cents per diluted share, compared to net income of $136.24 million or 23 cents per share last year.
