Stock in Mumbai fell. Apollo Tyres plunged 6% after net profit fell 59%. DLF Limited slumped 4% after net profit fell 5%. Nagarjuna Construction declined 1% and net profit rose 35%. Ranbaxy Laboratories slumped 3% and net profit soared 169%. Vardhman Industries gained 4% net profit spurted 116%.

The BSE Sensex plunged 1.37% or 286.62 to close at 20,589.09. The CNX Nifty on the National Stock Exchange slumped 81.45 to close at 6,194.25.

Gainers & Losers

Apollo Tyres Ltd. plunged 6.1% to Rs 70.60 after the tire manufacturer said second quarter consolidated net profit fell 58.79% to Rs 53.25 crore.

Bhushan Steel Limited fell 0.4% to Rs 529.25 after the steel maker reported second quarter net profit rose 36.93% to Rs 259.02 crore.

Britannia Industries Limited decreased 2.1% to Rs 431.25 after the bakery products maker said second quarter net profit declined 46.05% to Rs 31.87 crore.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited declined 1.2% to Rs 746.30 after the petroleum industry reported second quarter net profit of Rs 2,142.22 crore compared to net loss of Rs 158.77 crore from a year ago.

Cords Cable Industries Limited gained 3% to Rs 42.95 after the cable maker said second quarter net profit jumped 90.3% to Rs 1.37 crore.

DLF Limited slumped 4.4% to Rs 346.45 after the real estate developer reported second quarter consolidated net profit fell 4.9% to Rs 418.38 crore.

Elecon Engineering Company Limited fell 0.1% to Rs 94.45 after the material handling equipment maker won order worth Rs 36 crore from Essar Projects (India).

El Forge Limited decreased 1.7% to Rs 24.70 after the steel forging company reported second quarter net loss of Rs 2.49 crore higher than net loss of Rs 1.46 crore from a year ago.

Eros International Media Ltd gained 1.1% to Rs 200.00 after the media and entertainment firm said second quarter consolidated net profit rose 12.9% to Rs 45.33 crore.

Hanung Toys and Textiles Limited increased 2.6% to Rs 393.80 after the toys and home furnishing company reported second quarter net profit surged 62.4% to Rs 30.29 crore.

Himatsingka Seide Limited soared 13.4% to Rs 62.30 after the fabric and yarn maker board decided to rise up to Rs 150 crore by issuing securities.

IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd plunged 1% to Rs 316.60 after the construction & contracting company won contract worth Rs 1,094 crore from Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corp in consortium with Spanco.

Minda Industries Ltd. rose 0.2% to Rs 388.40 after the automotive parts maker said second quarter net profit rose 33.97% to Rs 7.06 crore.

Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited declined 1.4% to Rs 152.45 after the project construction company reported second quarter consolidated net profit rose 35.29% to Rs 63.48 crore.

Omaxe Limited fell 0.8% to Rs 149.65 after the real estate developer said planning to raise about Rs 400 crore through a stake sale to institutions by January 2011.

Star Paper Mills Limited slipped 4.8% to Rs 37.35 after the pulp and paper maker reported second quarter net loss of Rs 4.49 crore compared to net profit of Rs 1.57 crore from a year ago.

Sujana Towers Limited surged 4.8% to Rs 201.60 after the galvanized steel tower maker board approved 5-for-1 stock split on strong earnings.

Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited slumped 3.1% to Rs 584.85 after the pharmaceutical company said second quarter consolidated net profit soared 168.86% to Rs 307.93 crore.

Valecha Engineering Limited decreased 1.5% to Rs 206.15 after the infrastructure developer signed agreement with Madhya Pradesh government to set up 440 megawatt thermal power plant.

Vardhman Industries Limited gained 3.6% to Rs 61.95 after the steel sheets and coil maker reported second quarter net profit spurted 116.3% to Rs 3.72 crore.
