Stocks in Mumbai declined. Asian Paints Limited fell nearly 3% on weak earnings. HT Media Limited fell after net jumped 44%. NTPC Limited slumped 3% and profit declined 2%. Thermax Ltd quarterly net surged 65%.

The BSE Sensex plunged 1.07% or 216.02 to close at 20,005.37. The CNX Nifty on the National Stock Exchange fell 69.35 to close at 6,012.65.

Gainers & Losers

Asian Paints Limited plunged 2.9% to Rs 2,520.00 after the color and paint maker said second quarter net profit fell 22.87% to Rs 196.16 crore.

BS TransComm Limited, telecom and power infrastructure provider soared 52.6% to Rs 378.50 after the company priced its initial public offering at price of Rs 248.

Gyscoal Alloys Limited surged 14.8% to Rs 81.55 after it priced its initial public offering at Rs 71.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited gained 3.9% to Rs 324.70 after the pharmaceutical company reported consolidated net profit increased 38.01% to Rs 111.62 crore.

HT Media Limited decreased 3.2% to Rs 163.95 after the newspaper publisher said second quarter net profit rose 44.06% to Rs 45.25 crore.

Jyoti Structures Limited rose 0.7% to Rs 134.85 after the engineering construction said second quarter net profit rose 19% to Rs 24.85 crore.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited rose 1.7% to Rs 83.95 after the crude oil refiner reported second quarter net profit gained 56.70% to Rs 281.57 crore.

NTPC Limited slumped 3.1% to Rs 198.75 after the power generator reported second quarter net profit declined 2.07% to Rs 2107.38 crore.

Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. surged 5.2% to Rs 192.55 after the company priced its initial public offering of Rs 183.

Raymond Limited increased 1.1% to Rs 442.35 after the textile maker said second quarter net profit gained 427.32% to Rs 39.18 crore.

Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd. soared 3.9% to Rs 809.45 after the non-banking financial company said second quarter net profit surged 44.11% to Rs 298.96 crore.

Spicejet Limited gained 2.8% to Rs 86.00 after the private company Kal Airways, acquired 1.93 crore shares or 4.78% of the company as a part of the deal to acquire total 37.7% stake.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited plunged 3.1% to Rs 98.70 after the hotelier and air caterer reported second quarter net loss of Rs 6.30 crore compared to net profit of Rs 11.87 crore from a year ago.

Tech Mahindra Limited slipped 2.1% to Rs 768.70 after the information technology services provider said compared to first quarter 2010 consolidated net profit rose 4.41% to Rs 150.67 crore.

TRF Limited plunged 19.9% to Rs 689.45 after the material handling equipment maker said second quarter consolidated net loss of Rs 21.95 crore compared to net profit of Rs 11.93 crore from a year ago.

Thermax Ltd gained 1.3% to Rs 796.15 after the boilers and heater maker reported second quarter net profit surged 65.43% to Rs 89.53 crore.

Union Bank of India slumped 5.8% to Rs 392.80 after the public sector bank reported second quarter net profit tumbled 39.93% to Rs 303.39 crore.
