The BSE Sensex dropped 0.56% or 110.98 to close at 19,872.15. The CNX Nifty on the National Stock Exchange dropped below 6,000 after losing 45.20 points.

Bajaj Holdings & Investment Limited gained 2.4% to Rs 871.20 after the investment company said second quarter consolidated net profit surged 99.3% to Rs 649.45 crore.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited rose 1% to Rs 714.20 after the three state controlled companies will get a combined Rs 10,000 crore will receive fuel subsidy payments for the first half of the fiscal year.

Canara Bank surged 3.6% to Rs 657.00 after the bank said second quarter net profit rose 10.69% to Rs 1007.88 crore.

CEAT Limited fell 3.9% to Rs 161.80 after the tyre maker said second quarter net profit plunged 75.16% to Rs 15.27 crore.

Confidence Petroleum India Limited rose 1.8% to Rs 19.25 after the bottling of liquefied petroleum gas secured an order worth approximately Rs 40 crore from Bharat Petroleum Corporation for supply of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders.
