Vistaprint N.V. led the decliners in the S&P 500 index with a loss of 30.8% followed by losses in AsiaInfo-Linkage, Inc. of 20.4% and in CommScope, Inc. of 19.0%, and in Harsco Corporation of 18.9% and in Covance Inc. of 15.6%.

Brunswick Corporation led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 16.3% followed by gains in Citrix Systems, Inc. of 14.9%, in Itron, Inc. of 10.9% and in Ameriprise Financial, Inc. of 9.9% and in Teradyne, Inc. of 9.8%.

Arrow Electronics, Inc. ((ARW)) rose 1.2% or 30 cents to $24.44 after the electronics and computer products distributor said second quarter sales rose 36% to $4.61 billion from $3.39 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 451% to $116.2 million or 96 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $21.1 million or 18 cents per share a year ago.

Net income in the quarter rose 102% to $167.6 million or 39 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $82.9 million or 19 cents per share a year ago.

AstraZeneca Plc ((AZN)) added 2.1% or $1.11 to $52.62 after the biopharmaceutical company said first half revenues rose 7% to $16.8 billion from $15.7 billion a year ago. Net profit for the first half rose 27% to $4.88 billion or $3.36 per diluted share compared to net profit of $3.85 billion or $2.66 per share a year ago.

Ball Corporation ((BLL)) fell 1.1% or 69 cents to $57.09 after the provider of metal and plastic packaging services reported second quarter revenues rose 18% to $2.0 billion from $1.7 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 48% to $69.0 million or 74 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $133.3 million or $1.40 per share a year ago.

BMC Software, Inc. ((BMC)) dropped 0.2% or 11 cents to $37.80 after the software vendor said first quarter revenues rose 2% to $461 million from $450.0 million a year ago.
