Sanmina-SCI Corporation led the decliners in the S&P 500 index with a loss of 16.9% followed by losses in Volterra Semiconductor Corporation of 13.1% and in Carlisle Companies, Inc. of 12.8%, and in Momenta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. of 12.4% and in Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. of 1.3%.

Federal National Mortgage Association led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 46.6% followed by gains in Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. of 31.2%, in Kinder Morgan Management, LLC of 1.8% and in TC PipeLines, LP of 1.7% and in ONEOK Partners, L.P of 1.6%.

ACE Limited ((ACE)) fell 0.4% or 22 cents to $53.25 after the property and casualty insurer said second quarter gross premiums written rose 0.6% to $5.15 billion from $5.12 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 27% to $677 million or $1.98 per diluted share compared to net income of $535 million or $1.58 per share a year ago.

ACCO Brands Corporation ((ABD)) added 1.0% or 6 cents to $5.82 after the supplier of select categories of branded office products reported second quarter revenues rose 4% to $316.5 million from $303.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $4.9 million or 9 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $121.4 million or $2.23 per share a year ago

Aetna Inc. ((AET)) decreased 1.2% or 36 cents to $28.00 after the health insurer said second quarter revenues fell 1.4% to $8.55 billion from $8.67 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 42% to $491 million or $1.14 per diluted share compared to net income of $346.6 million or 77 cents per share a year ago.

American Oil & Gas Inc. ((AEZ)) gained 7.4% or 50 cents to $7.19 after the oil and gas exploration agreed to sell Hess Corporation energy fields of 85,000 net acres in North Dakota.

Aflac Incorporated ((AFL)) rose 0.1% or 9 cents to $50.80 after the seller of supplemental health insurance said second quarter profit surged 85%.

AGCO Corporation ((AGCO)) dropped 0.1% or 7 cents to $34.04 after the farm equipment manufacturer said second quarter revenues fell 2% to $1.74 billion from $1.77 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 10% to $62.9 million or 66 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $57.4 million or 61 cents per share a year ago.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. ((AJG)) dropped 0.6% or 16 cents to $25.99 after the insurance broker said second quarter revenues rose 1.3% to $459.5 million from $453.6 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 0.5% to $44.0 million or 42 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $43.8 million or 44 cents per share a year ago.

ArcelorMittal ((MT)) fell 0.9% or 30 cents to $31.72 after the global steel producer said second quarter sales rose 42% to $21.7 billion from $15.2 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter was $1.7 billion or $0.75 per diluted share compared to net loss of $792 million or $0.57 per share a year ago.

ATC Technology Corporation ((ATAC)) fell 0.2% or 7 cents to $24.10 after the maker of automotive drive-train products said second quarter revenues fell 9.6% to $104.4 million from $115.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $2.45 million or 12 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $16.6 million or 84 cents per share a year ago.

The Boeing Company ((BA)) fell 1.4% or $1.02 to $67.60 after the defense contractor and airplane maker reported second quarter revenues fell 9% to $15.6 billion from $17.2 billion a year ago. Net income for the quarter fell 21% to $787 million or $1.06 per diluted share compared to net income of $998 million or $1.41 per share a year ago.

Broadcom Corporation ((BRCM)) added 1.2% or 45 cents to $37.98 after the chip maker said second quarter revenues rose 54% to $1.6 billion from $1.04 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 1,977% to $278.3 million or 52 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $13.4 million or 3 cents per share a year ago.

Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc. ((BWLD)) climbed 7.6% or $3.14 to $43.99 after the restaurant chain said second quarter earnings per diluted share increased 28.2% to 50 cents from 39 cents.

Century Aluminum Company ((CENX)) dropped 5.2% or 55 cents to $10.00 after the producer of the metal reported profit excluding some items of 21 cents a share in the second quarter.

Choice Hotels International, Inc. ((CHH)) rose 1.3% or 45 cents to $34.53 after the hotel franchisor said second quarter revenues rose 4.5% to $149.8 million from $143.3 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 6% to $27.0 million or 45 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $25.5 million or 42 cents per share a year ago.

CMS Energy Corporation ((CMS)) added 1.7% or 29 cents to $16.57 after the energy company said second quarter sales rose 9% to $1.34 billion from $1.23 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 7% to $80 million or 32 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $75 million or 32 cents per share a year ago.

Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. ((CCE)) rose 0.9% or 27 cents to $28.75 after the producer and distributor of non-alcoholic beverages said second quarter sales fell 0.5% to $5.88 billion from $5.91 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 14% to $356 million or 69 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $313 million or 64 cents per share a year ago.

Comcast Corporation ((CMCSA)) added 2.9% or 57 cents to $19.90 after the cable TV provider said second quarter sales rose 6% to $9.53 billion from $9.00 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter fell 8.6% to $884 million or 31 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $967 million or 33 cents per share a year ago.

CVS Caremark Corporation ((CVS)) fell 4.2% or $1.31 to $29.29 after the health care provider said second quarter sales fell 3.6% to $24 billion from $24.9 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter fell 7% to $821 million or 60 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $886 million or 60 cents per share a year ago.

Dominion Resources, Inc. ((D)) added 2.4% or $1.04 to $44.31 after the producer and transporter of energy said second quarter sales fell 2% to $3.33 billion from $3.41 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 288% to $1.76 billion or $2.98 per diluted share compared to net income of $454 million or 76 cents per share a year ago.

DST Systems, Inc. ((DST)) declined 0.1% or 6 cents to $39.38 after the computer software services provider said second quarter revenues rose 11% to $613.9 million from $554.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 93% to $94.0 million or $2.00 per diluted share compared to net income of $48.7 million or 97 cents per share a year ago.

DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. ((DWA)) gained 5.6% or $1.81 to $33.89 after the movie maker reported second quarter earnings of 27 cents per share compared to 24 cents per share a year ago.

Eni SpA ((E)) rose 0.2% or 10 cents to $.27 after the oil company said first half revenues rose 13.6% to €47.7 billion from €42.0 billion a year ago. Net profit for the first half rose 48% to €4.05 billion or €1.12 per diluted share compared to net profit of €2.74 billion or €0.76 per share a year ago.

Fiserv, Inc. ((FISV)) rose 0.2% or 11 cents to $47.74 after the information-technology provider said second quarter revenues rose 2% to $1.02 billion from $1.0 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 9% to $127 million or 83 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $140 million or 90 cents per share a year ago.

FirstService Corporation ((FSRV)) fell 0.5% or 13 cents to $21.54 after the provider of services in commercial real estate said second quarter sales rose 18% to $501.4 million from $425.3 million a year ago. Net profit for the quarter was $2.3 million or 8 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $1.92 million or 7 cents per share a year ago.

General Dynamics Corporation ((GD)) declined 1.5% or 97 cents to $60.80 after the maker of tankers, ships and jets said second quarter sales was flat at $8.1 billion. Net profit for the quarter rose 5% to $648 million or $1.67 per diluted share compared to net income of $618 million or $1.60 per share a year ago.

Global Payments Inc. ((GPN)) rose 0.3% or 14 cents to $40.07 after the provider of electronic payments transaction said fourth quarter revenues rose 16% to $425.1 million from $367.9 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 9% to $34.2 million or 42 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $37.6 million or 46 cents per share a year ago.

Hess Corporation ((HES)) fell 0.5% or cents to $53.00 after the global integrated energy company said second quarter sales rose 15% to $7.75 billion from $6.76 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 275% to $375 million or $1.15 per diluted share compared to net income of $100 million or 31 cents per share a year ago.

Hospira, Inc. ((HSP)) rose 0.3% or 19 cents to $57.00 after the specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company said second quarter sales rose 1% to $968.2 million from $956.9 million a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 227.5% to $83.5 million or 49 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $25.5 million or 16 cents per share a year ago.

Illumina, Inc. ((ILMN)) gained 5.3% or $2.22 to $43.48 after the manufacturer of integrated systems said second quarter revenues rose 31% to $212.0 million from $161.6 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 21% to $29.8 million or 21 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $24.7 million or 18 cents per share a year ago.

International Paper Company ((IP)) fell 1.9% or 49 cents to $25.00 after the paper and packaging company reported second quarter sales rose 5.5% to $6.12 billion from $5.8 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter fell 32% to $93 million or 21 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $136 million or 32 cents per share a year ago.

Jones Apparel Group, Inc., ((JNY)) rose 0.7% or 12 cents to $16.80 after the apparel and footwear company reported second quarter revenues rose 7% to $859.6 million from $803.9 million a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 96% to $25.7 million or 30 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $13.1 million or 15 cents per share a year ago.

The Manitowoc Company, Inc. ((MTW)) rose 2.3% or 25 cents to $10.78 after the multi-industry, capital goods manufacturer said second quarter revenues fell 15% to $876.5 million from $1.0 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $14.1 million or 11 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $12.3 million or 9 cents per share a year ago.

Nabors Industries Ltd. ((NBR)) fell 0.5% or 10 cents to $18.28 after the oil and gas driller said second quarter revenues rose 4.5% to $917.8 million from $878 million a year ago. Newmont Mining Corporation ((NEM)) fell 1.3% or 76 cents to $55.02 after the gold producing company reported second quarter revenues rose 34% to $2.15 billion from $1.6 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 136% to $382 million or 77 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $162 million or 33 cents per share a year ago.

Panera Bread Company ((PNRA)) dropped 2.4% or $1.94 to $76.66 after the bakery-cafe chain said second quarter revenues rose 14% to $378.1 million from $330.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 33.5% to $26.7 million or 85 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $20 million or 65 cents per share a year ago.

Praxair Inc. ((PX)) fell 0.3% or 28 cents to $85.55 after the industrial gas supplier reported second quarter revenues rose 18% to $2.53 billion from $21.4 billion a year ago. Net profit for the quarter rose 24% to $371 million or $1.19 per diluted share compared to net income of $299 million or 96 cents per share a year ago.

Questar Corporation ((STR)) fell 0.3% or 6 cents to $17.14 after the natural gas-focused energy company said second quarter revenues rose 8% to $201.1 million from $185.6 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 25% to $97.5 million or 55 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $77.9 million or 44 cents per share a year ago.

Net loss for the quarter was $760 million or 25 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $384 million or 13 cents per share a year ago.

((ULTI)) fell 1.0% or 37 cents to $36.36 after the provider of human resources and talent management software said second quarter revenues rose 16% to $54.7 million from $47.2 million a year ago.
