    NBTY, Inc. led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 44.1%. Eclipsys announces special meeting of stockholders to vote on proposed Allscripts merger. Mylan to acquire Bioniche Pharma global injectable pharmaceuticals business.

Hubbell Incorporated led the decliners in the S&P 500 index with a loss of 6.7% followed by losses in Veeco Instruments Inc. of 5.5% and in TCF Financial Corporation of 5.4%, and in GSI Commerce, Inc. of 4.7% and in KT Corporation of 4.5%.

NBTY, Inc. led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 44.1% followed by gains in Clean Energy Fuels Corp. of 8.1%, in National Bank of Greece S.A of 6.9% and in Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. of 3.9% and in Vina Concha y Toro S.A of 3.6%.

Alliance Financial Corporation ((ALNC)) fell 0.6% or 18 cents to $29.68 after the financial company said second quarter interest income fell 3% to $15.4 million from $15.9 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 50% to $3.0 million or 64 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $2.0 million or 28 cents per share a year ago.

Amazon.com, Inc. ((AMZN)) fell 2.5% or $3.10 to $120.20 after the online retailer was downgraded to “neutral” from “buy” at Bank of America Corp.

Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ((ARNA)) surged 10.7% or 46 cents to $4.74 after the experimental weight-loss drug and Eisai Inc. today announced that results from the two-year BLOOM (Behavioral modification and Lorcaserin for Overweight and Obesity Management) trial will be published in the July 15 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

Eclipsys Corporation ((ECLP)) rose 1.7% or 34 cents to $20.10 after the health-care information- technology provider announced that a record date and a special meeting date have been established for Eclipsys stockholders to consider and vote upon a proposal to adopt the previously announced merger agreement with Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions, Inc.

Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc. ((FCS)) rose 3.5% or 35 cents to $10.15 after the supplier of high performance power and mobile products reported second quarter revenues rose 47.4% to $409.6 million from $277.9 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $43.8 million or 34 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $24.9 million or 20 cents per share a year ago.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. ((JPM)) rose 0.7% or 29 cents to $40.64 after the bank reported second quarter revenues fell 2% to $25.1 billion from $25.6 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 77.8% to $4.8 billion or $1.09 per diluted share compared to net income of $2.7 billion or 28 cents per share a year ago.

Landstar System, Inc. ((LSTR)) decreased 1.6% or 68 cents to $40.79 after the freight shipper and warehouser said second quarter revenues rose 30.6% to $641.7 million from $491.2 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 36.3% to $24.4 million or 49 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $17.9 million or 35 cents per share a year ago.

Marriott International, Inc. ((MAR)) rose 0.2% or 8 cents to $32.24 after the hotel operator said second quarter revenues rose 8% to $2.77 billion from $2.56 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 221.6% to $119.0 million or 31 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $37.0 million or 10 cents per share a year ago.

Mission West Properties, Inc. ((MSW)) declined 0.5% or 4 cents to $7.01 after the real estate investment trust said second quarter revenues rose 4% to $26.0 million from $25.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 39% to $10.0 million or 11 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $7.2 million or 8 cents per share a year ago.

Mylan Inc. ((MYL)) rose 0.4% or 8 cents to $17.93 after the maker of generic drugs announced plans to acquire Bioniche Pharma Holdings Limited, a privately held, global injectable pharmaceutical company for $550 million in cash.

OPNET Technologies, Inc. ((OPNT)) plunged 11.7% or $1.86 to $14.03 after the management software maker said diluted earnings per share for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 are expected to be between 5 cents and 6 cents, within the previously guided range of 3 cents to 8 cents.

Peregrine Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ((PPHM)) rose 0.5% or 1 cent to $1.90 after the drug development company reported fourth quarter loss of 16 cents a share.

Ppg Industries, Inc. ((PPG)) rose 0.1% or 8 cents to $64.60 after the coatings maker reported second quarter sales rose 11% to $3.46 billion from $3.12 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 86.3% to $272.0 million or $1.63 per diluted share compared to net income of $146.0 million or 89 cents per share a year ago.

Republic Bancorp, Inc. ((RBCAA)), the bank reported second quarter net interest income rose 1% to $28.1 million from $27.9 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 21.7% to $8.4 million or 40 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $6.9 million or 33 cents per share a year ago.

Rubicon Technology, Inc. ((RBCN)) fell 0.6% or 21 cents to $32.49 after the maker of crystalline products was upgraded to “overweight” in new coverage at Piper Jaffray Cos.

Universal Forest Products, Inc. ((UFPI)) declined 6.5% or $2.12 to $30.50 after the wood-products maker said second quarter sales rose 24% to $638.6 million from $515.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 15% to $13.7 million or 70 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $16.1 million or 83 cents per share a year ago.

Veeco Instruments Inc. ((VECO)) fell 0.3% or 16 cents to $41.00 after the maker of gear for chipmakers and data storage was downgraded to “neutral” from “overweight” at Piper Jaffray Cos.

Vivus, Inc. ((VVUS)) rose 2.2% or 27 cents to $12.38 after the company is seeking Food and Drug Administration support to sell its drug, Qnexa, to adults to use once-a-day along with exercise and diet changes to slim down, according to a Reuters report.

Winmark Corporation ((WINA)) decreased 0.06% or 2 cents to $34.06 after the franchisor of retail store concepts said second quarter revenues rose 12.5% to $9.9 million from $8.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 91.7% to $2.3 million or 45 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $1.2 million or 22 cents per share a year ago.

Wolverine World Wide, Inc ((WWW)) rose 2.1% or 58 cents to $27.65 after the footwear maker reported second quarter revenues rose 5% to $258.2 million from $246.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 117.7% to $17.2 million or 35 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $7.9 million or 16 cents per share a year ago.
