Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods OJSC led the decliners in the S&P 500 index with a loss of 8.7% followed by losses in Liberty Media Corporation of 5.0% and in El Paso Pipeline Partners, L.P of 4.3%, in Coinstar, Inc. of 4.3% and in HCP, Inc. of 4.0%.
Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 14.3% followed by gains in Alkermes, Inc. of 8.3%, in GEROVA Financial Group, Ltd. of 8.1% and in Covanta Holding Corporation of 7.6%.

Adolor Corporation ((ADLR)) plunged 18.0% or 27 cents to $1.23 after the biopharmaceutical company announced results from a Phase 2a clinical trial of ADL5859 and ADL5747 in patients with osteoarthritis (OA).
FMC Corporation ((FMC)) fell 0.3% or 24 cents to $63.24 after the producer of natural soda ash was downgraded to “neutral” from “buy” at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Kaman Corporation ((KAMN)) rose 0.04% or 1 cent to $24.76 after the aerospace company announced that it expects revenue to be between $310 million and $320 million and diluted earnings per share to be between 15 cents and 20 cents for the quarter ending July 2, 2010.
Rowan Companies, Inc. ((RDC)) rose 1.4% or 35 cents to $25.03 after the rig contractor was upgraded to “outperform” from “market perform” at FBR Capital Markets.
SMART Modular Technologies (WWH), Inc. ((SMOD)) added 4.4% or 29 cents to $6.79 after the chipmaker said third quarter sales rose 119.7% to $201.2 million from $91.6 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $15.0 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $2.4 million or 4 cents per share a year ago.
Southwestern Energy Company ((SWN)) fell 1.9% or 87 cents to $43.70 after the oil and gas company was cut from the “conviction buy” list at Goldman Sachs Group Inc.
Tutor Perini Corporation ((TPC)) advanced 2.9% or 55 cents to $19.27 after the construction company announced that it has won three new contracts totaling approximately $467 million.
Vornado Realty Trust ((VNO)), the real estate investment trust traded unchanged at $79.74.
