Blackboard Inc. ((BBBB)) decreased 3.8% or $1.64 to $41.15. The provider of software to educational institutions said first quarter revenues rose 17% to $101.1 million from $86.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $5.0 million or 15 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $37,000 or break even per share a year ago.

BMC Software, Inc. ((BMC)) fell 3.4% or $1.33 to $36.75. The business software maker said fourth quarter revenues rose 2.5% to $491.3 million from $479.3 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 42.6% to $118.8 million or 64 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $83.3 million or 44 cents per share a year ago.

Career Education Corporation ((CECO)) fell 1.0% or 30 cents to $29.70. The education company said first quarter revenues rose 22.4% to $529.7 million from $432.9 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 137% to $55.2 million or 66 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $23.3 million or 26 cents per share a year ago.

CBS Corporation ((CBS)) declined 3.0% or 48 cents to $15.10. The broadcasting company said first quarter sales rose 12% to $3.53 billion from $3.16 billion a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $26.2 million or 4 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $55.3 million or 8 cents per share a year ago.

Cigna Corporation ((CI)) added 2.5% or 80 cents to $32.80 after the health insurer reported first quarter sales rose 9% to $5.21 billion from $4.77 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 36% to $283 million or $1.02 per diluted share compared to net income of $208 million or 76 cents per share a year ago.

Clearwire Corporation ((CLWR)) added 5.8% or 44 cents to $8.00 after the operator of mobile broadband networks said first quarter sales rose 72% to $106.7 million from $62.1 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $94.1 million or 48 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $71.1 million or 38 cents per share a year ago.

Copa Holdings, S.A. ((CPA)) rose 0.2% or 13 cents to $54.93 after the airline said first quarter revenues rose 8.5% to $335.2 million from $308.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 48.7% to $36.7 million or 84 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $71.6 million or $1.63 per share a year ago.

Cogent, Inc. ((COGT)) rose 0.8% or 9 cents to $10.24 after the maker of fingerprint- identification systems posted first quarter net income of $5.7 million or 6 cents per diluted share.

Con-way Inc. ((CNW)) fell 0.1% or 7 cents to $37.60. The trucking company said first quarter sales rose 20.5% to $1.16 billion from $962.9 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $4.0 million or 8 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $154.0 million or $3.35 per share a year ago.

DexCom, Inc. ((DXCM)) fell 3.2% or 35 cents to $10.52. The medical device company said first quarter sales rose 83.7% to $9.5 million from $5.2 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $20.3 million or 40 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $13.1 million or 33 cents per share a year ago.

Denbury Resources Inc. ((DNR)) fell 0.06% or 1 cent to $18.00. The oil and gas developer reported first quarter sales rose 152.5% to $438.8 million from $173.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $96.9 million or 32 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $18.3 million or 7 cents per share a year ago.

Drugstore.com, Inc. ((DSCM)) fell 2.7% or 10 cents to $3.60. The online provider of health, beauty, vision and pharmacy products said first quarter sales rose 20.3% to $118.3 million from $98.3 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $2.6 million or 3 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $854,000 or 1 cent per share a year ago.

Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. ((EXPD)) rose 0.3% or 14 cents to $40.78 after the logistics services provider said first quarter revenues rose 31.6% to $1.20 billion from $912.7 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 3.2% to $61.2 million or 28 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $59.3 million or 27 cents per share a year ago.

Frontier Communications Corporation ((FTR)), the communications company reported first quarter revenues fell 3.4% to $519.8 million from $538.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 17.3% to $42.6 million or 14 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $36.3 million or 12 cents per share a year ago.

JDS Uniphase Corporation ((JDSU)) declined 8.1% or $1.11 to $12.59. The communications equipment company said third quarter revenues rose 19% to $332.3 million from $279.1 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $11.9 million or 5 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $101.7 million or 47 cents per share a year ago.

KKR Financial Holdings LLC ((KFN)), the specialty finance company rose 0.2% or 2 cents to $8.27.

Level 3 Communications, Inc. ((LVLT)) dropped 4.9% or 7 cents to $1.36 after the communications company reported first quarter revenues fell 7% to $910 million from $980 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $238 million or 14 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $132 million or 8 cents per share a year ago.

Mastec, Inc. ((MTZ)) rose 0.6% or 8 cents to $12.47 after the communication and energy infrastructure provider said first quarter revenues rose 31.6% to $450.2 million from $342.1 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 38% to $7.4 million or 10 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $11.9 million or 16 cents per share a year ago.

Medifast, Inc. ((MED)) gained 8.9% or $2.70 to $32.90 after the provider of weight loss programs said first quarter profit nearly doubled on sales jump.

MetroPCS Communications, Inc. ((PCS)) gained 5.9% or 46 cents to $8.23 after the wireless carrier reported first quarter revenues rose 22% to $970.5 million from $795.3 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 48% to $22.7 million or 6 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $43.6 million or 12 cents per share a year ago.

Murphy Oil Corporation ((MUR)) decreased 3.3% or $1.93 to $56.38. The oil company said first quarter revenues rose 50% to $5.18 billion from $3.45 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 13% to $148.9 million or 77 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $171.1 million or 89 cents per share a year ago.

Omnicare, Inc. ((OCR)), the pharmaceutical services company reported first quarter sales fell 1% to $1.52 billion from $1.54 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 64.7% to $50.9 million or 43 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $30.9 million or 26 cents per share a year ago.

Pacer International, Inc. ((PACR)) rose 0.1% or 1 cent to $6.31. The provider of trucking, freight and transportation logistics services reported its first quarter net loss narrowed to $500,000 or a penny a share from $177.4 million or $5.11 a share a year ago.

Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc. ((SNI)) fell 0.1% or 7 cents to $45.48. The lifestyle content and interactive services company reported first quarter revenues rose 32% to $469.4 million from $355.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 20.5% to $72.5 million or 43 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $60.1 million or 37 cents per share a year ago.

Symantec Corporation ((SYMC)) added 5.0% or 82 cents to $17.07 after the maker of the Norton antivirus software said fourth quarter revenues rose 4% to $1.53 billion from $1.47 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $184 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $264 million or 32 cents per share a year ago.

Teradata Corporation ((TDC)) fell 1.4% or 42 cents to $28.87. The provider of data warehousing and enterprise analytics reported first quarter revenues rose 17% to $429 million from $367 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 49% to $67 million or 39 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $45 million or 26 cents per share a year ago.

Titanium Metals Corporation ((TIE)) added 1.8% or 26 cents to $14.70 after the supplier of the lightweight metal said net sales were $217.5 million for the first quarter of 2010 compared to net sales of $203.4 million for the first quarter of 2009.

Western Gas Partners, LP ((WES)) fell 1.6% or 39 cents to $22.83. The provider of midstream energy assets said first quarter revenues rose 5.7% to $94.3 million from $89.2 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 11% to $22.9 million or 37 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $20.6 million or 30 cents per share a year ago.
