Robert Half International Inc led the decliners in the S&P 500 index with a loss of 10.9% followed by losses in Medco Health Solutions, Inc of 3.2% and in DaVita Inc of 3.1%, in Praxair, Inc of 2.9% and in Sempra Energy of 2.2%.
Invesco Ltd led gainers in the S&P 500 index with a rise of 8.8% followed by gains in The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company 6.8%, in Broadcom Corporation of 5.6% and in American International Group, Inc 5.6%.

Aflac Incorporated ((AFL)) added 0.5% or 31 cents to $52.72 after the insurer said first quarter revenues rose 5% to $5.07 billion from $4.82 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 12% to $636.0 million or $1.35 per diluted share compared to net income of $569.0 million or $1.22 per share a year ago.
American Campus Communities, Inc. ((ACC)) decreased 2.0% or 61 cents to $29.51 after the real estate investment trust said first quarter revenues rose 7.7% to $81.5 million from $75.7 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $2.2 million or 5 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $277,000 or break even per share a year ago.
Amkor Technology, Inc ((AMKR)) declined 3.5% or 29 cents to $7.96 after the chip assembly and testing Services Company said first quarter sales rose 66% to $645.7 million from $388.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $44.3 million or 18 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $22.1 million or 12 cents per share a year ago.
AMAG Pharmaceuticals, Inc ((AMAG)) plunged 14.2% or $5.23 to $31.55 after the biopharmaceutical company said first quarter net loss of $23.1 million or a loss of $1.15 per basic and diluted share.
AOL Inc ((AOL)) fell 2.2% or 62 cents to $27.42 an Internet company reported first quarter sales fell 23% to $664.3 million from $864.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 58% to $34.7 million or 32 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $82.7 million or 78 cents per share a year ago.
Arris Group, Inc ((ARRS)) decreased 2.8% or 36 cents to $12.38 after the communications technology company said first quarter sales rose 5% to $266.7 million from $253.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 46% to $19.0 million or 15 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $13.0 million or 10 cents per share a year ago.
Boston Properties, Inc. ((BXP)) rose 0.04% or 3 cents to $78.15 after the real estate investment trust said first quarter revenues rose 0.6% to $379.8 million from $377.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 18% to $52.7 million or 38 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $44.6 million or 37 cents per share a year ago.
Broadcom Corporation ((BRCM)) added 2.1% or 73 cents to $35.55 after the maker of chips for television set-top boxes expects higher sales from its wireless and broadband chip segments while enterprise networking chip sales should be flat with the March quarter.
Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc ((BWLD)) plunged 19.6% or $1.01 to $41.00 after the restaurant chain reported first quarter same-store sales at company-owned locations increased 0.1%. Franchise royalties and fees increased 18.0% to $14.3 million versus $12.1 million in the first quarter of 2009.
Carpenter Technology Corporation ((CRS)) declined 6.2% or $2.63 to $39.68 after the specialty alloy producer said third quarter sales rose 2% to $336.9 million from $330.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 84% to $2.1 million or 5 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $13.1 million or 30 cents per share a year ago.
Ceradyne, Inc. ((CRDN)) added 0.04% or 1 cent to $22.98 after the maker of ballistic armor, diesel engine parts and industrial bearings said first quarter sales rose 10.2% to $110.0 million from $99.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $816 million or 52 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $14 million or 1 cent per share a year ago.
Dell Inc ((DELL)) fell 0.4% or 8 cents to $16.45 after the personal-computer marker was downgraded to “neutral” from “buy” at UBS.
Energizer Holdings, Inc ((ENR)) fell 4.4% or $2.79 to $59.39 after the consumer products company said second quarter sales rose 6% to $935.1 million from $880.4 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 15% to $88.5 million or $1.25 per diluted share compared to net income of $77.0 million or $1.30 per share a year ago.
Fidelity National Information Services, Inc ((FIS)) fell 2.3% or 61 cents to $25.04 an electronic payment processor said first quarter revenues rose 57.4% to $1.25 billion from $794.1 million a year ago. JetBlue Airways Corporation ((JBLU)) dropped 2.6% or 17 cents to $6.35 after the passenger airline reported first quarter sales rose 9.7% to $870 million from $793 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $1 million or 1 cent per diluted share compared to net income of $12 million or 5 cents per share a year ago.
Jones Apparel Group, Inc ((JNY)) gained 5.8% or $1.32 to $24.00 after the clothing, shoes and accessories company reported first quarter sales fell 0.3% to $876.1 million from $879.4 million a year ago. Mylan Inc ((MYL)) rose 0.9% or 21 cents to $21.57 after the maker of generic drugs today announced that its subsidiary Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. received final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Abbreviated New Drug Application for Tamsulosin Hydrochloride Capsules, the generic version of benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment, Flomax(R).
National Instruments Corporation ((NATI)) fell 1.2% or 46 cents to $36.12 after the supplier of measurement and automation products said first quarter sales rose 21% to $191.1 million from $157.8 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $18.4 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $358,000 or break even per share a year ago.
Panera Bread Company ((PNRA)) fell 3.8% or $3.30 to $82.90 after the restaurant company said first quarter revenues rose 13.6% to $364.2 million from $320.7 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 48.3% to $25.8 million or 82 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $17.4 million or 57 cents per share a year ago.
PetroChina Company Limited ((PTR)) rose 0.6% or 74 cents to $114.00 an energy explorer said first quarter revenues rose 75% to Rmb 318.8 billion from Rmb 182.0 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 71% to Rmb 32.49 billion or Rmb 0.18 per diluted share compared to net income of Rmb 18.97 billion or Rmb 0.10 per share a year ago.

Robert Half International Inc ((RHI)) plunged 10.0% or $3.15 to $28.25 after the supplier of temporary workers said net income in the first quarter was $8.5 million or 5 cents a share and revenues of $737.2 million compared $8.8 million or 6 cents per share, on revenues of $823.3 million.
Rollins, Inc ((ROL)) fell 1.2% or 28 cents to $22.19 an international service company reported first quarter sales rose 4% to $253.0 million from $243.0 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 11.4% to $17.6 million or 18 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $15.8 million or 16 cents per share a year ago.

Sprint Nextel Corporation ((S)) rose 0.2% or 1 cent to $4.09 after the mobile-phone carrier reported first quarter of net loss excluding the increased valuation allowance on deferred tax assets, the diluted loss per share would have been 17 cents for the quarter.
US Airways Group, Inc ((LCC)) rose 0.7% or 5 cents to $6.38 after the airline said first quarter sales rose 7.7% to $2.65 billion from $2.46 billion a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $45 million or 28 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $103 million or 90 cents per share a year ago.
WellPoint, Inc ((WLP)) fell 1.1% or 64 cents to $55.92 after the health insurer reported first quarter sales fell 0.3% to $15.1 billion from $15.14 billion a year ago.
