Futures were little changed in early trading, pointing to a slightly higher to flat opening, after Amazon posted better-than-expected earnings and sales after the market close Tuesday. Kellogg and ConocoPhillips are also slated to report Wednesday. Investors are gearing up for U.S. durable-goods orders data, expected to be modestly lower in June. Oil prices will also be in focus as the latest U.S. inventory data, due at 10:30 is seen to point to a fourth weekly decline in crude oil stock piles.

Rising oil and the possibility of more earnings in the red might discourage traders from buying. On Friday government is expected to report the economy slowed in 2Q. Europe's No.1 mobile phone company Vodafone said Monday that it signed up 4.1 million users in 1Q, topping views and up 35% vs. a year ago.

The young 'Asian man' killed in London subway station at a point blank range by police had nothing to do with the London bombings. In fact he was Brazilian student. The Police Commissioner had asserted that he was 'directly lilnked' to the bombings. The office of the Prime Minister will not answer questions related to the fatal shooting and police will not apologize for the bias against Asian community.

With 40% of S&P 500 companies reporting earnings for the second quarter so far, earnings growth for the quarter is better than 10% compared to 25% a year ago. Of the reported earnings, 72% of the companies are beating the estimates, a widest measure since the first quarter 2004.
