Bajaj Auto December sales slid 3%. BHEL won contract worth Rs 3,810 crore in Telangana. RPower completed its sixth and last 660 megawatt unit at Sasan. Tata Motors commercial and passenger vehicles sales advanced 10%.TVS Motor sales climbed 20%.

Australian market indexes advanced 0.5% on the first trading day of 2015 and Aussie dollar eased to a new five-year low. Crude oil extended its six-month long losses and gold declined.

Australian market indexes gained more than 1% but resource stocks plunged after coal and oil prices suffered worst decline since 2008. For the year, oil declined nearly 50%, and Santos Limited plunged 40%. BHP Billiton lost 22% and Rio Tinto declined 14%.
