- JPMorgan Chase declined 1.1% to $205.09 after the New York-based bank reported stronger-than-expected revenue in the second quarter.
Revenue increased 22% to $50.2 billion from $41.3 billion, net income advanced 25% to $18.1 billion from $14.5 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $6.12 from $4.75 a year ago.
The bank took a higher-than-estimated credit loss provision of $3.05 billion, indicating that the bank is looking for higher losses stemming from its credit card business.
Jul 12, 2024 - JP Morgan Chase rose 2.1% to $173.75 after the bank reported quarterly results and a rise in adjusted earnings, excluding fees paid to the government tied to the seizures of regional banks.
Revenue in the fourth quarter increased 12% to $39.94 billion, and net income declined 15% to $9.31 billion, or $3.04 per share.

Revenue in the second quarter increased 34% to $41.3 billion from $30.7 billion and net income soared 67% to $14.4 billion from $8.6 billion and diluted earnings per share rose to $4.75 from 2.76 a year ago.
Return on common equity surged to 20% from 13% a year ago and provision of credit losses surged to $2.9 billion from $1.1 billion respectively.
Jul 14, 2023 - JPMorgan Chase & Company said first quarter revenue jumped 25% to $38.3 billion and net income soared 52% to $12.6 billion from $8.28 billion and diluted earnings per share increased to $4.10 from $2.63 a year ago.
Provision for credit losses rose to $2.27 billion from $1.46 billion a year ago. Return on equity jumped to 18% in the first quarter of 2023 from 13% and return on assets increased to 1.38% from 0.86% a year ago.
Loans net of allowances increased 5% to $1.1 trillion from $1.05 trillion, deposits fell 7% to $2.37 trillion and total assets fell 5% to $3.74 trillion from $3.95 trillion a year ago. Assets under management increased 2% to $3.0 trillion.
JPMorgan repurchased $1.9 billion of its own stock and paid a dividend of $3.0 billion or $1.0 a share in the first quarter.
Apr 14, 2023 - JPMorgan said fourth quarter revenue rose 18% to $34.5 billion and net income increased 6% to $11 billion or $3.57 a diluted share.
