Total revenue in the second quarter increased 4% to $20.1 billion from $19.4 billion, net income advanced 10% to $3.2 billion from $2.9 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $1.52 from $1.33 a year earlier.

Citigroup's total allowance for credit losses was approximately $17.6 billion compared to $16.3 billion at the end of the quarter a year ago , with a reserve-to-funded loans ratio of 2.68%, compared to 2.54% at the end of the prior-year period.

Total assets at the end of the quarter increased 2% to $2.43 trillion from $2.38 trillion and deposits were stable at $1.3 trillion from a year ago.
Citigroup's allowance for credit losses at the end of the quarter increased to $17.5 billion from the previous year.
During the quarter, the company returned a total of $2.0 billion to shareholders in the form of $1.04 billion in dividends and $1.0 billion in share repurchases.
