Dec 11, 2024 - General Motors increased 9.4% to $53.51 after the vehicle maker reported better-than-expected quarterly results and lifted its annual outlook.
Revenue in the third quarter increased 10.5% to $48.7 billion from $44.1 billion, net income edged 0.3% lower to $3.0 billion, and diluted earnings per share increased to $2.68 from $2.20 a year ago.
The company tightened its annual net income attributable to shareholders outlook to a new range between $10.4 billion and $11.1 billion from the previous estimate between $10.0 billion and $11.4 billion.
The company revised its annual diluted earnings per share range to between $$9.14 and $9.64 from the previous estimate between $8.93 and $9.93.
Oct 22, 2024 - General Motors declined 5.8% to $46.67, despite the automaker reporting better-than-expected second quarter results.
Revenue increased 7% to $47.9 billion from $44.7 billion, net income rose to 14.3% to $2.9 billion from $2.6 billion, and diluted earnings per share advanced to $2.55 from $1.83 a year ago.
The vehicle maker also revised its full-year earnings per share outlook to between $8.93 and $9.93 from the previous estimate between $8.94 and $9.94.
The company also declared a quarterly cash dividend of 12 cents payable on September 19 to shareholders on record on September 9.
Jul 23, 2024 - General Motors increased 4.9% to $45.35 after the vehicle maker reported sharply higher revenue and earnings in the first quarter.
Revenue increased 7.6% to $43.3 billion from $39.0 billion, net income attributable to shareholders rose 24.4% to $2.98 billion to $2.35 billion, and diluted earnings per share advanced to $2.56 from $1.69 a year ago.
The vehicle maker updated its full-year 2024 earnings outlook to a new range between $10.1 billion and $11.5 billion from the previous estimated range between $9.8 billion and $11.2 billion.
Apr 23, 2024 - General Motors jumped 7.5% to $38.03 after the company reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings on flat sales in the fourth quarter.
Sales in the quarter edged slightly lower to $42.98 billion from $43.11 billion, net income edged higher to $2.1 billion from $2.0 billion, and earnings per share rose to $1.59 from $1.39 a year ago.
The company reiterated its commitment to electric vehicles and confirmed that adoption of the advanced vehicle has been slower than anticipated.
Despite the near-term sales challenges, General Motors plans to build a production capacity of one million electric vehicles by 2025.
