- AutoNation Inc. edged up a fraction to $130.54 after the auto dealer network operator reported mixed quarterly results.
Revenue in the third quarter increased 3% to $6.8 billion from $6.6 billion, net income plunged 31% to $243.7 million from $352.6 million, and diluted earnings per share declined 12% to $5.54 from $6.31.
New vehicle sales increased 11% to $3.2 billion, used vehicle sales declined 10% to $2.2 billion, and after-sales service revenue jumped 12% to $1.2 billion.
Customer financial services revenue edged up 2% to $370 million.
New vehicle days supply, the industry measure of selling days, increased to 31 days from 19 days, and used vehicle days supply rose to 33 days from 31 days.
Oct 27, 2023 - AutoNation Inc plunged 9.2% to $160.68 despite the largest automotive dealer network operator reporting better-than-expected revenue and earnings.
Revenue in the second quarter was flat at $6.9 billion and net income fell 28% to $27.25 million from $376.3 million and diluted earnings per share plunged to $6.02 from $6.48 a year ago.
New vehicle revenue increased 12% to $3.3 billion but used vehicle revenue declined 17% to $2.1 billion and after-sales service increased 11% to $1.1 billion.
The company repurchased 1.6 million of its own share for an aggregate price of $207 million.
Jul 21, 2023 - AutoNation said fourth quarter revenue decreased 2% to $6.7 billion and net income declined 26% to $286.4 million from $387.1 million and diluted earnings per share declined to $5.72 from $5.87 a year ago.
In the quarter, new vehicle unit sales increased 4% to 60,074 and used vehicle sales declined 9% to 67,608.
